I'm thinking of participating for the soles4souls week of barefooting. (more info at their website)
but my question is should I try to encourage my school to do it also? I would love to because I enjoy being barefoot and all, but I really worry about the teachers/administrators "cracking down" on me about breaking a "rule". ideas?

I think it's a great idea to push it in your school. If you go talk to an administrator and tell them about the charity and that you want to participate. Try to set up a drive to collect shoes for it. Most likely if they have prior knowledge they wont care.

Inevitably in this thread something will be said about the charity. I've heard the rumors that it was created by shoe companies as a source of revenue. From the research I've done, it seems that they only take donations in the form of shoes that were already bought so it wouldnt help any specific company anyway. Also an interesting fact the charity was started in Nashville which is only about 45 min from me.

The store I work at participates in this program its kind of cool. We give incentive to donate like 15% off your purchase. But we have a lot of people that just bring in stuff to donate with out buying anything. I definitely think you should see if your school can and see how many shoes you can get for people!
