I just started my dreadlock journey 4 days ago and i am going the route of neglect. I was just curious as to the ratio of water to baking soda as i've heard alot of different input on the topic. So what is a good ratio to use? Thanks for the help guys
I Have Used Baking Soda For 21 Months, Works Perfectly For Me.... Half To Three Quarter Of A Table Spoon In A 1-25 Litre Coke Bottle, Drill A 4mm Hole In The Cap, And Use A Small Funnel To Put The Powder In the Bottle. Don't Fill It Quite To The Top, But Leave A Gap So When You Shake It The Fluid Has Room To Move And Mix.... Enjoy Your Journey, And Welcome To Teh Dready Forum.... Cheers Glen.
Thank You For Reminding Me, I Opened Mine A Few Minutes Ago And My Nasal Passages Were Slightly Affronted...:ack2:. Tis A Very Versatile Product...:2thumbsup:. Cheers Glen.
Everybody's Hair And Scalp Are Different, What I Quoted Works Perfectly For Me, You Will Have To Experiment To Get It Right, And As You Have Already Guessed, The 4mm Hole Is So You Will Get A Steady Managable Stream You Can Direct Into Each Dread, Rather Than A Big Uncontrolable Dump.... Cheers Glen.
I always put several heaping tablespoons in a cup, mixed in hot water, shook/dissolved a few minutes with my hand over the top, and slowly poured the super concentrated shit over my head, while in the shower. But everyone else, especially glen, seems to use a LOT less. It worked all right, but may have been somewhat wasteful.
I've always used a bucket, dunk my head in and scrub my scalp for a while, then rinse off afterwards. I don't measure, just pour some in and add boiling water. (obviously add some cold water afterwards to get the temperature right). Then add anything else that might occur to you to put in there if you want -tea tree oil, sea salt, scented oils etc). I never found putting it in a bottle and pouring it over my head cleaned well, maybe that's just me though. Try some different things to find out what works best for you...
