Hey I have been having dreams more often then not in which I am in 'spectator' mode. Meaning no one in the dream can see me but I can see them. Kind of like watching a movie but I'm actually there.. These dreams are really sick and they stuff up my sleep so it is a problem for me... they make me feel REALLY bad in the stomach.. I thought I would list the most recent one I have had - but minus the nasty details It follows a group of three Hispanic women. The only specific things I remember about them is that one seems to be in their mid 20s with the other two in their late 30s or early 40s. All of them are fairly stocky with dark hair. They are all in a white car driving along a road through a forest. It is day time. They pull into a road off the main one and end up at a trashy white house in a remote forest area. Suddenly three guys (man 1, 2 and 3) approach and attack them. One of the older women manage to run away while the younger is brutalized and eventually stabbed. While man 1 continues to attack the younger woman, man 2 calls to the 3rd to help him: "string up the fat one", referring to the remaining older woman. They use a knife on the remaining older woman. The tone the men had was very scary.. they practically were laughing at the situation. I won't go into any more detail.. But I was stuck in the dream watching all this happen.. I am not a fan of scary movies so I have never seen a movie like this. For some reason I am getting dreams like this but with totally different situations - they all have very different plots with very different people and it is all so real.. The sounds from the victims are bloodcurdling to say the least.. I have tried not thinking about it but I STILL GET THEM so I'm going to do the opposite and obsess.. :computer:
Hey Flutter. That seems somewhat disturbing. I know how something like this can be upsetting. Interesting that you never got involved in the dream. I went through a stage long ago where I had these kinds of dreams almost every night, but at some point I would usually move from being a spectator to getting involved. I can't really offer you any great advice on this, but I can tell you what happened to me. I had a similar kind of dream which became recurring. It wasn't exactly a recurring dream, but a recurrence of the same theme, that was very upsetting. I tried something which worked for me. I'm no expert, but since I know it worked for me, I would suggest you give it a try. Next time this happens, try to write it down. Do this in as soon as you can, so you don't forget. No need to do it in too much detail, just enough notes so you remember. Then write it out as a story, but change the plot to give it a positive spin. E.g. allow the women to escape unharmed, or expose the whole scene as amovie set instead of a real event, or introduce yourself into the story to save them. When I did this, I was hoping this would change the plot to become a bit more positive, but what actually happened is that the dreams just stopped. I guess they might have been replaced by more pleasant ones, but I cannot really remember that. I do know that the general theme that had become so recurring completely stopped. Maybe I just lucked out, so give it a try and let me know if it worked for you too. Would be really interested to know if it does.
I have had the same thing happen to me. I don't get them very often and they are always horrifying. Never anything pleasant. I think the advice nameba gave you is excellent. Hope it works!
I've had a few awful, horrible dreams like you describe...in that they were brutal and deadly to somebody (and in another dream, for me, it was animals to each other); only there was nothing I could do...I screamed and nobody paid me any attention. Each time I've had a dream like this, it makes me feel sick inside, too, and so far, the dream will always literally wake me up. As crazy as this (here) sounds - I think it is good that we are bothered/upset (whatever) by these dreams. All I can say about that is that it'd be really worse to have a dream like you've described and NOT be bothered. So I say Obsess - I know I have at times. The advise about writing it all down sounds good; even tho' I've tried that already. I haven't had one in a while. (hope all my blabbing doesn't jinx me now )
