Love the 50's and all the music, movies and culture associated with it but anything bohemian is cool.

    antihippie is a joke. Hi!

Hello. This is an interesting introduction thread.

I appreciate the culture associated with beatniks far more than the culture associated with hippies, even though I identify with a lot of hippie ideals and some new age thought.

I love 60s mainstream as far as movies go; some 60s music, some 50s music. But I absolutely adore stories set in the 50s. Especially Philip K Dick's normal fiction.

I like your name, I've had "Anti-Hippie" as my user title (the thing under the name; can only be changed by members)

    Hi again everyone.

I realize no one cares but to clarify I am obsessed with American underground culture starting about in the 20's (with prohibition, jazz, flapper girls, etc) to about the 50's--the 60's and early 70's to me are the height and death throes of something special that will probably never be seen again.

This place is refreshing to me since I can discuss topics without being seen as some space alien.

I am aware it wasn't all romantic idealism back then however! there was lots of racism, sexism, addiction and other negatives that people seem to gloss over.

    Unity :sunny:
