OK, I know we all hate Walmart and love to pile on them with complaints. For ONCE I have something to praise Walmart for, their pharmacy! Everyone hates to wait in line there, but yesterday I had an amazing experience. My prescription had expired so I called them up and using their automated system I plugged in the prescription #, and their system informed me correctly that the prescription had expired and my doctor would have to approve a refill. Then the computerized voice said, "We will contact your doctor to refill your prescription, please allow 24 hours for approval". The next day, I received another computerized call from Walmart that announced that my prescription was ready for pickup at their pharmacy! And it hadn't even been 24 hours! Before to refill an expired prescription, I have to make an appointment with my doc (which I hate doing), then drive 20 miles to visit him (he doesn't even examine me, just talks b.s. then fills the script, no better than my pot doc), then pay him $100, then drive another 40 miles to take the script to the pharmacy, and in Walmart's case usually have to wait 48 hours before its ready for pickup. All in all it usually would take most of a week to get a refill and cost me a ton. Best of all when the automated voice called to announce my script was ready for pickup, it then said, the cost of your prescription (for a 3 month supply) would be $4.00... Ah, yes, at last Walmart does something RIGHT! And get this! I waltzed into Walmart yesterday to pick up my prescription, and guess what? NO LINE! NOBODY at all waiting. I was in and out in of the pharmacy in about 60 secs... Amazing! Now in order to neutralize the effect of my review, you can all pile in with your Walmart horror stories...
Walmart still sucks dude. Methinks you just had a lucky experience. Saying that though, I do like shopping in ASDA (which they bought several years ago) They have the best cheese in world in there, 2 packs for £3!
I just call my Dr for a script that may have expired. I don't think Walmart is so smart for doing so. Because of the type of insurance that I have, I can only pick up my medication through my clinic, which is generally full of people who you run into at walmart anyhow, so I get the same experience.
rite aid sucks for prescriptions, an hour wait./ though they chanded their policy to 15min. Walgreens is really fast, thats where I go mostly.. 10/15 min tops.. Once I wasnt even away from the counter turning it in, name over loud speaker.. damn that was fast..
Skip I'm glad you had a good experience but when you think about it it's pretty sad. Because its so rare to get good service it was remarkable enough to share it with others. It's pitiful that we're so used to shit service that we comment on the kind of treatment we should always get.
All supermarkets give a good service IME but that's not the reason why they suck. I'd still rather buy my food from a local shop, where the people who run the shop care about what products they stock. If you ask for something they will do their best to get it for you. ASDA OTOH clearly don't give a shit as I've asked for them to stock several products and they haven't bothered their arses, even though there is clearly space for it. They know I will still shop there though because I have no choice.
Mom and pop pharmacies will do the same thing for you except the phone calls won't be automated. I feel bad for the mom and pop pharmacies. Of course, they don't offer the $4 generics like wal mart does.
My mother works their. and hates it. she works in the photolab. people that come in their, can be down right mean
Ehh, walmart doesn't have to be bad, in theory. If they just got quality, but inexpensive stuff made in the US..... I remember being a kid, and my parents still went to walmart but checked things, and could leave with acceptable, if not great, purchases made in the US. But now walmart's sold out the US, as have the rest of the similar box stores. I have heard good things about the pharmacy, considering what it is. But a dedicated neighborhood pharmacist who cares about people and doing his job is MUCH better.
haha that main aisle when you first walk in really wigs me out sometimes, especially when I go there stoned. I get the feeling I'm in some bizarre matrix in wal mart sometimes. My brain doesn't really comprehend stores like that.
Same here, but I would go further to expect efficiency from a company that works on volume margins and is successful. So, unremarkable considering.
