I don't really like the Grateful Dead.

I could never really get in to them. Their story is amazing, but I just... Don't enjoy them that much. Then again, there's so much stuff that it's kinda hard to know where to start but... yeah, that's my confession for today.

 

i used to got to the end the earth to see them, but once bobby and phil starting sucking obama dick, Im kinda turned off and will not jump thru a hoop to see them now.. or jump out a window... yeah /I went there.. lulz..

I'm with you op, I can fill up a greatest hits compilation worth of stuff from them but I don't particularly care for a lot of it, even the live recorded stuff.

 

What I like about the Grateful Dead is Bob and Jerry both have two completely different sounds to offer, so if someone doesn't like the more spacier Jerry jams they often end up liking Bob Weir's folkier traditional stuff.

I dunno if you're willing to give them another shot, but I recommend buying the album Reckoning. Its a live album from an acoustic tour and its what really got me into the Dead.

they've made an awful lot of money by selling very "idealised" memories of the 60's and perpetuating a lot of myths about drugs to people

There is just no accounting for peoples taste, personally they are my favorite band but thats just me. In fact out of all the people I grew up with in my part of town I was the only one that ended up a deadhead. But thats what makes us all unique so its all good. :cheers2:

Same here. The lifestyle the dead-heads lived looked like fun,but I don't like their music at all.
