When I was a kid, we were so poor we'd go to KFC just to lick other people's fingers.

I had dinky cars and whatnot as a kid. But 95% of my time was spent playing with sticks, rocks, and climbing trees, running around down by our creek, etc. We were somewhat poor. But when you live in the country you don't seem to be bothered by it as much/notice it as much.

    You made jokes?

    Eeeh,you were lucky!

We were so poor we couldn't afford the words to make jokes,so we had to make do with 2nd-hand ones.

We were so poor that in the summer when our well would start to dry up we had to take showers under the hose in the side yard instead of taking baths.
