Tell me about it--this weather's been crazy--I live in Missouri, and where I live has gotten a lot of thunderstorm activity, but so far no tornadoes--I feel sorry for those who've been hit by them, though--as if the one that hit Joplin wasn't enough, there was one that hit Sedalia too--I saw that on the news this afternoon!

Meliai, It's not just the tornados. We've set record rainfall amounts, had record flooding, just came out of a record winter. Its a culmination of many factors that paint a picture of weather patterns being bizarre.

Its really only setting records since weather patterns have been recorded, which has not been that long in the grand scheme of things.

Don't get me wrong. I think its pretty bizarre. I think a lot of it is occuring because of human impact on the earth. Some of it probably is just cyclical as well.

I see your point and agree that cyclical stuff could be going on but I suspect that had these strange patterns been going on they would have shown up in literture/old newspaper accounts and other mediums even if formal recording wasn't in place. Extremes of this nature get mentioned even if not in a scientific fashion and I don't think there is a record that refers to level of change. I'm with you that I wish we had more of a formal record to refer to.

I keep wondering if it has something to do with the pole shift or impending geomagnetic reversal. I watched an episode of Nova about it a couple (?) years ago and they indicated that this event has some atmospheric implications. I'm no scientist, but my little brain abounds with theories... Anyway, I just hope we all stay safe. And preferably dry. It'll be August before my basement dries out from all this rain.
