I have noticed over the years that my dreams seem to take place in the same settings. it's basically a simplified, almost childlike version of my hometown with a few extras and a couple of dream anomalies - they are dreams, after all. I have had recurring themes, events that take place in my dreams and they seem to happen in the same areas. it's almost as if I go to sleep to watch a new episode of this slightly warped in location and often extremely bizarre in events version of my actual life. I have had lucid dreams at times and they have been very profound and engaging but I have never been able to fully control them. I also suffered from sleep paralysis for a large portion of last year, almost nightly at its worst, and it seems like this piecing together a map of my dreamworld is recompense for those times, or maybe even resulting from. so basically, I ask what I can do with this. in my minds eye I can picture a basic roadmap and the locations, places, and events in my dream history which have took place. I am wondering if I could further develop this somehow? it is literally like a computer game world where different events take place every night, and every now and again I have a dream in a confusing location that I later realise to be on a road branching off one I already had mapped. this all feels natural and isnt really understood properly until after I've woken up as I rarely have lucid dreams and participate as an observer or in a wierd combination of the third and first person.
Hi Snootch, maybe you want to make a blue print of the landscape and do sketches of the events, or write a journal, and keep it open and growing ... I'd be interested to hear if drawing in waking time has an impact on experiencing the dreamscape at night. Do you ever meet others in those dreams who feel like they are real people rather than dream characters ? Anyway, thank you for sharing !
