I used to work in Tempe The drug cartels are everywhere (in the US, not just AZ). Most of the violence is on the border btw... I've lived here for about 10 years now all together and I personally have never experienced any drugs wars/violence or any crap like that. Though the house down the street did get raided once... Guns are a lot more free out here than in most other states. Just a little while ago, a law was passed allowing people 21 or older (with clean record) to carry concealed firearms without a permit. The criminals will always have guns, despite what the law says. So why not allow the law biding citizens to carry, too? As long as you don't give anyone any crap, you won't have to worry about getting shot or anything. Out here pretty much only the major idiots (combined with big temper problems), and the drug dealers/criminals get shot. ie If I'm keeping to myself and some guy starts chasing me with a knife, I can legally shoot him. So as long as you keep your temper under control and don't fall into a life of crime, you're good The people here in Phoenix/Avondale seem nicer than in Illinois (Rockford/Chicago area). Though I dunno so much about Tempe, despite me working there for a few weeks. Hope you like the sun! Cause out here we get it about 360 days a year
I'm loving it here so far This place is teeming with musicians and cool people My only problem is my/our dismal employment/income situation.
I work on the outskirts of Tempe. Live in South Scottsdale though. Get out and enjoy what AZ has to offer.
I like AZ. Employment may be hard to come by. Rent is cheap though. I think Tempe is pretty liberal compared to the rest of AZ.
