My lil man is turning 13 in four months. We have promised him a birthday party, and he really likes themes... but what do you DO for a themed party for a teenage boy that isn't too tacky? I will allow 13 guests, and if he chooses to have BOYS sleep over, he may have up to half of them as overnight guests. I've looked around a bit online & come up with the following as possible ideas, but haven't checked with DS yet. Can anyone think of any OTHER ideas?!? (his 11th birthday party was based on the reality show "Fear Factor" so that's out as an idea) * 50’s, 60’s, Medieval or some other “time period” party * A movie or book-themed party (Indiana Jones / Star Wars?) * A bonfire/nighttime fun party (at Grandmom’s house, or at a small local camp I can secure for the night idea) * A pizza, exotic pop-tasting or other food-related party * A fall “harvest” type party * A pirate, alien or other “character” type party * An astronomy/out-of-this-world party? * A bowling, Science Museum, or other party somewhere specific * Some sort of “halloween” type party * A camera, tie-dye or other “activity” type party Any other ideas?!? love, mom
i like the bonfire/nighttime fun party... you could also get the boys involved in making their food for the night...pizza on the grill is really good...or you could do some open fire cooking...
I second the bonfire/nighttime fun idea. I think the boys would love it! I saw an idea in a magazine yesterday about doing a pizza bar, you know, making the dough up ahead of time into individual sized pizzas, and then putting bowls of different toppings/sauces on the picnic table, letting the kids create their very own pizzas.
After talking to DS and DH, I think he's going to have an overnight at the local camp. DH says he's willing to talk to a few other dads, and have a JUST GUYS night there with a bonfire, and a bunch of other foods like the make-your-own pizzas or possibly just a bunch of "campfire food." The lil man is on a strict gluten-free diet, but we've been making mini pizzas for a few years now, and finally have a crust that tastes more or less crust-like. He & DH are both getting excited now about their guys night out. love, mom
I like the boys only and campfire idea...how about a daytime community service kinda thing with the guys only? Clean up something, fix something for older folks...that sort of thing. Maybe get some community recognition for the guys and set a theme of giving as you get.
I know this is too late as a post but I also like the bonfire/nighttime fun party idea for the boys where they will be able to set camp in a secure area. They can be able to prepare their own "camping-food" for the night like they're on their own which will somewhat give them a sense of responsibility and independence.
