I've wanted to take better care of myself for sometime now. I've started exercising more often but still not eating very well. Lately I haven't really been hungry much and when I am I seem to keep eating the wrong things... I dont eat all "Bad" food, I eat fruits and vegetables just not enough...and yogurt and such...

Next week I'm going to be going to an intergrative medicine doctor (western medicine, ayurvedic medicine, traditional chinese medicine, and more) I'm hoping that she can help me figure out what to do for myself.

I really want to eat better and to exercize more often... it's just been hard to start. I gained 8 lbs, have lost 5 so far in 2 months. I currently weigh 158 lbs, I would like to weigh about 135-140 soon enough or I just don't want to have as much fat and more muscle.

how can I start all the great things I want to accomplish?

baby steps and creating new habits. Takes 2 weeks to start a habit and 6 mos to break. don't let it go for more than a week.

Start with some walking to begin the toneing process in your legs. Maybe throw in a push up or 2 for now. Try to take stairs rather then elevators, trim the extra fat off of meat(there is still some in the meat which you do need a little of). Insted of watching as much TV for entertainment or playing computer games try walking with friends or doing something else a little more active. Gradely change your diet to better food and try to get into a good sleep cycle. Take it solw. After a while try a few more excerises and maybe start some meditation or yoga to help you relax. Your environment also plays a role. Try to uncluter your place if you can. If you have magazines and newspapers laying around then a trip to the recycling center is in order. If you have old junk you don't ever use and don't know why you keep it, then toss it or call good will to give it to those less fortunate. Just try to imagine yourself healthier and happier. How do you see yourself idealy? Just work towards it slowly and steadly. The long journey of life begins with your first baby steps.

    set really specific goals.

ie, instead of saying "im going to eat better", say, every day i'm going to eat 5 servings of vegetables, including 2 servings of leafy veggies, one serving of an orange veggie, one serving of a lacto-fermented veggie and 2 servings of raw veggies. i will shop on thursdays, and compile my shopping list beforehand, so that i'm sure to buy all of the supplies that i need to maintain my health", etc... blah blah blah...

I also advise you start doing some work with your Chi.

You said that you are doing Chinese and Ayuvedic doctor. Both practices work with your Chi alot (in the Ayuvedic practice it'll be called Prana), and not only is this a good opportunity to become aware of your Chi, but also the Chinese and Ayuvedic medicine will work much better if you work with it.

It's for the same reason that when your trying to help someone up it's much easier (for both parties) if the person being pulled up is pulling on your arm and taking an active role.

Also if you want to do more exercise it's good. I advise finding a good Tai Chi teacher or start a Martial Art. Aikido is a good choise as is Aikijitsu and one of my favorites is Kung (Gung) Fu. I don't recommend Karate (well Karate just means "open hand" but normally if you take a Karate lesson your taking a Jujitsu based lesson) or Jujitsu for now, maybe later though (it would a damn sight better than nothing though). I would also recommed Kendo (literally Ken - Sword; Do - Way) and if you start that get yourself a nice Boken (Bo - Wood). Weopon based martial arts get you to extend your chi beyond your body and that is always good if you want to start to be aware of it.

For the actual awareness of it, I tend to encourage the awareness of the deep interal flows, which are more powerful to in the healing process and are a little more obvious.

Theres one line that runs up your back (starting at your bits) and then up to the crown of your head and back down your front, down your chest bone and finishes where it started, this is a good one to be aware of.

Don't expect result in the becoming aware of it though. As long as you put the intent and the work into finding it then it should happen. It's a bit like boiling water, at 10 degrees (C) it's water, at 50 degrees it's water, at 99 degrees its water, then at 100 degrees its steam.

    Good luck with it.

Not only should you worry about your eating habits and strength but you should concentrate on your mental health as well. I suggest on getting into yoga. Not only is it great for your body physicaly but it does wonders for your spirit................
