I met a guy on hipforums a month ago that took Amtrak from Boston to here. His name is

Augidog. He set up his tent here in Oysterville, WA. He said the $208 train ride was the trip of

a lifetime. He is gonna help get 5 campsites fixed up at this place for people who want to

backpack onto this west coast beach and visit. Should be ready by next spring.

He bought this tent for about $60 from www.campersbackpack.com
    It's a Eureka.
Today when it gets light I'm gonna take him on a bus tour up and down the peninsula which

he says reminds him of Cape Cod. He'll be calling this place home for a while.

The vibrational tuning fork spirit energy of this place yielded some awesome mental images

as he fell asleep the first night. HS

Yes alot of people if thye would change thier perspectives could find out that living out and about can be rather fun. I knew a guy who biked all over, stopped and did a days or weekends work for some money and kept on going. He did this for 2 years after he got out of college just to say "he lived".

Kinda of funny it reminds him of cape cod because there is a town in cape cod named oysterville.

For storage inside your tent, use the 4-gal squarish pails, because they fit closer together. You can use these containers to store food, tools, clothes, and books. On top of them, thermarrest pads and a sleeping bag provides comfortable seating and sleeping.During the winter,we eat mostly stored grains and beans, sprouts, canned peaches and tomatos, salt dry fish. Many tricks make life easier, like getting rain catching system for a supply of fresh water for drinking.Bathing only in salt water for weeks can get old.http://corbinstreehouse.com www.homier.com Northern Bush Craft,by Mors Kochanski.

2 years in the heart of boston, now i'm here...u better believe the mental imagery is intense, shoot, i'm tripping on the fresh air itself. the city-toxins have been like a brown wake behind me thru the whole railtrip, which really was the most groovy of adventures. for anyone interested it was the amtrak "empire builder" from chicago to portland. the late 70's was all about tent-living for me, feels great to to know i still got it in me. btw, the "cape cod" i'm being reminded of is provincetown, i setup deep in the dunes in a nice stand of trees not unlike crabapple crossroads, and i worked in a local cafe. nice part about being here with honor is i have as much out-storage as i need so my tent is only for sleeping and quite roomy :)

ok, folks, i should have done this a LONG time ago. Honor' passed away in early 2007...stomache cancer...he never did get to build his campground, but i can say from experience that it would have been one groovy setup, the vibes on the long beach peninsula are quite righteous. the brief time i had to know him was interesting, to say the least. he was truly a colorful personality with a colorful past, and he stood out in an area, & era, where standing out took a lot of work...and boy o boy did he ever throw himself into his work. RIP, Honor, and thank you for everything.

after settling into my own digs, i got involved with a bit of motorized bicycling...which turned into a LOT of mb'ing. matter of fact, i wound up creating and running the leading forum on the subject. i am retired now from the job, but still reaping the rewards for all my hard work.

which leads me full-circle back to this thread...

i am now travelling the country on my mondo-custom motored bike "Sabrina2"...and once again "living in a tent."

in may '10 i left oysterville for good and headed for bellingham wa, where i boarded the ferry for alaska. spent a year there, juneau & haines, camping & riding in what is surely god's country. now i'm back in belliingham, preparing for a tough run across the "north cascades highway."

after some partying in kettle falls, i'm heading for three forks montana and the lewis & clark trail.

anyways...you can check out my personal site if you're interested in this sort of thing.

if it wasn't for this forum, where i met Honor, none of this would be happening...ya gotta love serendipity, eh?

That sucks about Honor, it's too bad he didn't get to build his place.

If you ever get up around northern ontario (canada), we have lots of room for you to pitch a tent.

nice of you to extend the invite, Chronic'...i'd love to enjoy some canada. but it's a passport thing. while onboard the ferry i met several alaskan residents who used to drive through, but as border-control rules change they find out that something as silly as a "disturbing the peace" from 15 years ago raises flags, even tho their passports are full of entry-stamps from previous years. however, some kind of "pay the queen" arrangement allows a once-thru, like "IF you have a few hundred dollars you're prolly OK"...sounds like a way hassle, so i'll pass on the passport. but thanks again for extending the courtesy

indeed. i meant nothing against canada or the queen, to be clear...methinks most of these problems stem from our crap, not yours.

gonna hit the road tomorrow morning and ride the "chuckanut" from bellingham to sedro-woolley, then up 20 to concrete for the weekend. they'll likely be new pics and posts on my (personal, ad-free) site soon.

    She is not my queen...

Think of it this way... we let her keep her name at the top of the list, and didn't have to shoot her troops... Beyond that... she is no more our queen, then she is yours.

Well well well....I'll be dipped in dogshit and laid out in the Sun to dry.

Augidog you old salt. Sir you talk of Sedro and Concrete both like you was raised up here in the valley!! Were you?? Be sure and stop at the Lyman Restaurant and get a big plate of B and G with a couple eggs on top OE. They used to have a cook there that poured bacon grease into the sausage gravy and Man oh Man that was a feedbag of PURE PLEASURE I'm here to tell ya!!!

I can't 'member the name of the bar in Concrete on the north side of the main drag (they used to//might still have those killer natchos $6 or 7 or 8 bucks they and damn well werth it!!!) (an old hippie owned/ran the place) (Downtown) (all 2 blocks of it). It's on the same side as that pizza joint (if they are still there). I don't mean the redneck bar on your right if you're facing the Fire Station/cop shop at the top of the 'T'. Back in 1994 I worked a 9 or 10 month summer at Lake Tyee for Maintenance. It's a pretty cool lil RV destination campground for a private/for profit outfit. Have you met Ralph who lives up in I think Division 3?? He and I were pals. I see him out and about now and again usually in Woolley. BTW TY for spelling S-W correctly...the local and or Seattle MSM usually get it wrong. (like everthang else)

B4 you head up 20 stop in at Oliver and Hammer and check their bandanna selection it is perty dog gone top notch. I got this weird fetish for bandannas and hats and bumper stickers too. Shell out $2 for a nice oval BStiker that says O & H Clothing Shoppe to raise moolah for the Big Lake Fire Dept. I got one, its on my windshield.

I'm headin' out 2nite for Gods Country. Been goin' to CNA school all week and I miss the old Ponderosa and my pals. Funny that I noticed this thread bout tent camping and saw "Sedro" and had to add my 2 cents worth....:sunny: I'll be on the home turf PC in about 1.5-2.0 hours. It's been a hoot yakkin atcha!!

    Peace Bro

heya, 7.65...very cool to get your input. last may i enjoyed a stopover in S-W, was MB'ing and camping my way from the long beach peninsula to bellingham...pretty doggone rainy but a hoot nonetheless. no i do not know either the valley or concrete...i am being put up by a friend of a friend for the weekend, then on monday i attack the NCH with my 40cc Tanaka & my 54yo knees...headed for kettle falls. never seen any of it, man ya gotta love "new" road as the highest high. gonna take some of your advice re: things to see people to do...or sumpin like that. i had dinner at the big lake bar & grille last year on my way up rt-9...it just appeared out of the rain and i dug the neon "bel-air"...i was born in '57, & it was actually my birthday (no shit)...i had no choice but to stop. i stomped in soaking wet with a big grin, announced i was the birthday-boy, and was treated like family by some american legion folks...i'll try to get me one'dem stickers out of appreciation for the fine time i had there. attaching pic Seedrow Whully campground last may. thanks again!

Like I said earlier...thanks so much for spelling Sedroe correctly...
The park you stayed at...was it the Riverfront Park on the Skagit R off of Township St???

There is some Shindig in Woolley started today+Saturday and Sunday. I might go there 2morrow. When I'm looking for a good time I jump in my truck and head for Woolley. Back when gas was near free (like just $2 per gallon) I would tool on up to Concrete and just hang out.Folks are great in Concrete....just keep your speedo at or below 35MPH thru town on 20 otherwise you will be introduced to Officer Obie Friendlys' radar....:D

yup, riverfront, that's the one. i'm in Concrete's southside right now. i'll be here a while, waiting for parts and a repair before the big ride..."stuck" in the Valley, boy life can be tough sometimes. btw-i'm only rigged for 30mph tops, no worries there.

If you was still down MtV way I'd say drop on in fer a spell or even spend the night. I got plenty room for your tent.
I would get you as obliterated as you could ever want on some of my buku xcellent weed or even open up a pint of good ole Irish Whiskey (Jamisons) if you had a mind to.

Unfortunately of late I've been living 90 klicks south while going to CNA school. But the good news is I'm near done with school. I was just talking to my side job Boss an hour ago re-negotiating my current rate which will soon be going up by a very nice margin. YEHAAA!!!

I did a bit of celebrating last night myself. Went to a new bar and found it most enjoyable....reminded me ALOT of the old Castle or Red Dog in Skidroll Woolly!! Last night was Karaoke and everbody who sang ROCKED THE HOUSE except for one young guy who kept singing these really lame ass songs circa the 80s. I never cared much for these tunes when the original bands did them...but that's just me.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your time in Warshington state. Just goes to prove my theory that not ALL tourists are full of shine-ola!!! Two and a half men will be on pretty quick and I am watching the clock waiting for 2 shows back to back to be on the Idiot Box!!
