Google Dr Hootan Roozrokh. That story is the reason why I haven't sighed on to be a donor but I have told my family to donate my organs if i pass suddenly.

...because you could be saving a child molester. If you think less than half the population is worth saving, you could hedge your bets by declining.

On that note I'm an organ donor. I also give blood regularly and am on the bone marrow list (although I hope that day never comes).

I'm an organ donor...I hope my organs are in good enough shape to donate when I die!

I had a few people ask what I was doing with my father's body when he died. Unfortunately, his body was so cancer-ridden, none of his organs were any good. I'm sure he would have wanted them donated. He partook in many "studies" after his surgery by donating his gallbladder after it was removed and parts of his intestines...hopefully they can get something good out of them...

I would like to donate organs and then get cremated

But I don't think donating organs should be mandatory as I think it should be each person's choice.

My family knows what to do.
I am not concerned about dying in a car accident, if I am already dead, then whatevs.

I am more concerned about being declared a vegetable and not being given time to try to recover. I have told my husband that if that ever happens to me, give me a chance.

I don't want to be Terri Schiavo, but I don't want anybody using me as a body parts store, either. People do wake up after their families were told it was hopeless.

If my family is sure I am really gone, only then can my organs go.

There is big money in organs. They have been known to let donors die so they can harvest their organs and make a ton of money. No thanks, my organs will stay with me. But that's ok because I am not a huge fan of humans anyway... hehe.

Also, I don't see why I should have to be cut open, even postmortem, to allow my healthy organs to be put in somebody who can no longer use the ones they were born with because they never knew how to take care of themselves (which I know isn't everybody who requires a transplant).

I am a proud NON organ donor... however I have something that rhymes with donor which I wouldn't mind giving to an attractive lady in need. So, see, I am still quite generous.

I am not an organ donor. Why the hell should my body be harvested for parts?
And no, I do not need any donor organs. I just accept death is a part of life.

Where? The Philippines? In America? Who are 'they'?
I don't remember hearing about a massive organ donor scandal in the US (or UK).
Yes, organ trafficking occurs, but I think you are quite safe from that if you drop dead in Rochester, Rat.
Sounds like another poor excuse to me.

What if you were a tissue match for a family member - a live organ donation?

If you don't wish to give your organs away, fair enough - but does your reasoning always have to include the absurd?

I do think it should be an opt out system. If you don't opt out, you're in.

Is it true, regardless what it says on your drivers licence the hospital needs family consent? That's why there are not as many as needed.
The person says yes, but the family says no.

    I say YES.

I am also a proud NON donor. Call me selfish call me what you will.

If I could choose the person who gets them, then I'd consider it. However I'm not ok with the idea of some asshole Ive never met running around with MY heart beating in his chest.

If not being eligible for organ donations were the result of my "selfishness" then so be it. It wouldnt change my mind. Death is life's last great adventure :)

i can see your reasoning, but why not donate your body to medical science? medical schools need cadavers for students to practice on. you could use your corpse to help train a new generation of doctors and surgeons.

after they're done with you the even stitch you back up, put stuff back in and return you to your families, so you can be buried or disposed of in any manner you wish.

seems like a good way to be useful after death even if you don't like the idea of possibly using your hardware to save someone you might not like.

I don't want to think I'm being part of some sick twisted experiment after I die. Instead I'd like my ashes put in one of those biodegradable urns and maybe reincarnate as a tree lol

You probably will be reincarnated as a tree. And all other things you can imagine that exist in the universe. Your molecules will be scattered around the universe, too bad there won't be a conscience mind to experience that.
