Hey guys so I gave up smoking about four months ago and maybe a month or so later I began getting a tight sensation in the middle of my chest. Its not painful but more uncomfortable and every fourth to fifth breath I take feels tightened and I struggle to take the full breath. Its as tho my chest deflates before I reach full breath. I've been to dr's a couple times and they've checked hearth and blood pressure breathing etc and could'nt come up with anything. Actually it started briefly arouind xmas but then went away until about maybe a couple months ago but I've quit Smoking since feb so maybe its connected? I should also mention that I sometimes smoke a tobacco alt with hash sometimes; and when I would smoke a few a day I began to exp these shooting sensations across my chest like almost cramp or a sprain? This hasn't been there for about 6 wks tho. Has anyone else experienced anything similar since thery quit smoking? The doc was well thorough but I'm just really scared somethings been overlooked and time could make it worst. Its literally all I can think about right now ;o(
Gas maybe? I've had that before and it felt like a heart attack. From: http://www.mothernature.com/l/Symptoms-Their-Causes-Cures/Chest-Pain_2121.html
Ellen, nicotine has all kinds of effects. if you read what you can find on the web, you will find that the nicotine sometimes leads to anxiety problems. this 'tell me what's wrong over the net' don't work well. you might have the beginnings of emphysema if you live in an area with bad air pollution... or quitting smoking made you aware of the feelings in your chest, or the withdrawal might be catching up with you or..... when i quit a month ago, i had stuff come out my sinuses. then my ear bled. my sleep was disrupted...had weird dreams. depression, anger....you name it, i had it. have had it before when i quit before...damned addiction. i do all the research i can if something is bothering me. i would go and look at all the medical data i could find and anecdotal stories of people who quit. you might find a clue, which will lead you to another clue...and then you might eventually find a conclusion, by which time, perhaps your symptoms will have disappeared on their own. hope so.
i had some breathing trouble as side effects from an unlucky combination of synthetic drugs/medicaments, that can be quite scary.
