I don't believe in insanity.

1. Words are simply a communication between humans to transmit ideas, concepts and experiences in attempts to relate. To my understanding, human language has no bearing on any thing outside of the human species.

Experiences can not be limited to words. usually when someone is dubbed insane, they are simply not understood. Through barriers in grammer (not being able to explain themselves) or barriers in cultural conditioning.

There is not better or worse, there is simply preferred.

 

Mental health isnt really a you crazy we sane kinda thing..

I think mental health is more of a do you feel comfortable existing in your own shoes kinda thing.

Its only true if you believe it is. So your only crazy if you think you are. Well thats how its been with me but there are probably a whole lot of people who are fuckin twacked that don't even know it lol.

Yeah twacked is crazy lol. Crazy is all relative and subjective to me. I don't really agree at all with the way society portrays the meaning of the word, but in my mind I either am in control of my thoughts and actions or im not so thats the difference of the word to me lol.

Sometimes I do crazy things without thinking for no reason other than purely for the sake of the thrill of it, and that is a different form of crazy that more fits my description

 

if you think you are crazy you almost DEFINITELY are NOT, haha

Nah man I used to be schitzo so yeah I knew i was crazy and i was right. Its a lot better when you are aware that you should NOT be hearing those voices talking to you in your head lol, because then that means a part of you isn't crazy for noticing that you indeed are, so in turn you get more better of a faster chance at recovering

 

Interesting thread, there are people with mental conditions. But I think just because someone is unusual and expresses themselves differently. That doesn't make them insane. I'm not sure how someone draws the line. You either have a technical problem or you don't?

 

Insane is not a medical term, it is a legal term. No where in the DSM will you find the term 'insane'.

However, mental illness is a very real thing. Schizophrenia is a terrible disorder that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

 

A small dose of reality hit me today. I was walking home this morning and I was stopped by a mentally retarded man. It was pretty eye opening, that there are disabilities.

It got me thinking about someone I knew with schizophrenia, it is terrible. I have "weird" thoughts, but the usually follow a logical train of thought. His are like "well my religion is the cookie god and if you see a person with a green sweater on they are blaspheming them"... stuff that makes no sense whatsoever on any conceptual level.


Off that, the laughing man as I will call him, enjoyed the small things, though he was disabled. He sipped a coke and laughed lol. He would just laugh at the smallest funny noise, saying wowww everything is so pretty over and over. It sounds bad but, hey he enjoys the small things we take for granted, although he is disabled he can take solace in something.

Wildflower, I guess the line is drawn when you can't function, meaning you can't take care of basic needs in life or feel comfortable in your existence. When you become a danger to your self or others.

Mcfuddy, true. I guess I was just thinking more on the level of what society at large thinks compared to what the individual thinks.

People being weird or doing things that are not considered "normal" in the present are not insane or crazy to any extent, but I would risk being naive if I said that insanity simply did not exist. There are extremes to all conditions for everything in the world, it is how we draw middle "normal" lines. And we give those conditions names (however meaningless or lacking language may be) because we need to attach words to meanings as verbal symbols for us to more easily identify the world around us. Thinking the the world is better off without people and acting on that belief by murdering everyone you can is an extreme condition, so extreme that we must lock up individuals like that in order to protect the public. We call this particular condition "insanity" because it is a stronger sense of "weird". When you say someone is weird, its just that they are a little off. When you call someone insane, it is supposed to mean that they are a danger to themselves and/or others, and that their personal belief or way of perceiving their reality does not conform closely enough to the general public (because the general public does not believe that the entire human race should not exist).

 

Verbal symbols, yes exactly what words are. I think the idea of thinking people should not exist would be unfair, if someone thought that, they would have to realize they are too human and to be just have to kill themselves, unless they had some delusion of perfection about themselves.

 

are you joking man? there are insane people out there. I am not talking people with mental illness but I am talking people who are really really fucking crazy.

there are people that think voices in their heads are controlling them and they kill people and eat their brains because these voices said they had to do it save them from magical forces.

plus some people with already existing mental conditions to so many drugs that they turn themselves into evil crazy people without a normal brain like other people and they do not think normally or understand stuff the same way we do. they turn into evil violent humans.

that guy that locked people in his basement and fed them dog food for 3 years. that guy had to be insane to get pleasure out of that.


so I hope I convinced you that insanity exists.

everyone of those crazy evil people need to be found and locked up. insane crazy people do not belong in society. they do not understand other humans emotions.

 

Most insane people believe that insanity doesn't exist. Or else they would therefor seek to be sane, and doing so in the process they would begin the process of healing an insanity.

Which insanity is really just a condition, unhealthful thought processes that lead to conclusions that are clearly disillusioned and even when presented with a sound and credible evidence it is unwavering in its opinion, seeking not what is presented upon by the outside world, but the inside.

Yeah I had to turn myself in to medical help, I had to let myself become the guinie pig for a few different kinds of drugs, like respiridol, then i started taking abilify which is what saved my life, of course the voices didn't just go right away, they did get quieter within like 1 months time I was back to my old self again after that long.

 

Sane and insane are legal terms and are not used as much in the mental health profession. As far as society is concerned, "conforming to a sick society is not an accurate measure of ones sanity". Being different scares people for some reason.

here I will give an example


an insane guy bumps into a rose bush and gets his finger stabbed. he believes that toxic chemicals and germs entered his finger and gave him a flesh eating disease that will painfully eat his body slowly and kill him and he 100% is convinced this will happen and no matter what anyone says he is 100% truly convinced. but he also is 100% convinced that if he is to cut off his finger that he will be cured of the disease.

so then the crazy insane guy cuts off his finger then feels relaxed knowing he is not going to get the disease he thought he was going to get. when in reality the guy was gonna be fine and now he just made himself lose a finger for no reason.

so basically there are insane people out there where their brains do not work correctly and they are harms to themselves and to other people and do crazy shit. these insane people do not have a natural understanding of stuff like most people and not only do they not have a natural understanding but also a severely distorted reality where everything is negative and everything messes with them.
