I went barefoot to a small movie theater yesterday evening, watching a true classic, which was recently restored to its almost original state: Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Having the opportunity to watch this on the big screen is something I didn't want to miss. The carpeted stairs up to the theater and the carpeted floor in there felt very nice underfoot.

Getting there by public transport got my soles pretty dirty especially in the underground stations.

Last night a friend and I went into NYC for dinner so I walked through Chelsea, sat at an outdoor restaurant and then along the docks in the Battery. My feet didn't get overly dirty (we should have taken the subway) and happily my friends don't find my barefootedness to be a problem. Thinking about going into the city again today, which would entail subways.

I walked barefoot around the city center last night. Fortunately the weather was quite humid and I spotted at least five other people who decided to take a page from me and lose their shoes. Also, because of the humidity I had no problem getting my soles black. It doesn't get much better then that.

Yesterday, the day and thus the new working week started the usual way, with me leaving the house barefoot, as usual, taking public transport to the city, there buying some drink and snack stuff for the office day, then taking the bus towards the office building.

Bare feet at the tram stop, before work

The office day was shod, today in closed-toed shoes, since I had to attend a meeting with one of the company bosses. After work, it was back to the usual spare-time footwear - none at all...

Bare feet at the bus stop, after work

Taking the bus back to the city center, I went barefoot to a pharmacy and a supermarket, unhassled in both cases, receiving "The Look"® only occasionally. I took the tram back home, and while sitting inside, a whole festival procession of bright red trucks zoomed past, blue lights flashing, sirens honking... the fire birgade was en route in the tram's direction.

I thought "Okay...", watching them burn their diesel the fast way, not worried as yet. On getting close to my stop, I saw those red trucks standing in the distance, right in the direction where I had to walk to get to my apartment house, and that was when I thought "Uh-oh...". And that thought was confirmed, as I padded nearer on my bare feet, carrying two cotton bags full of food...
Smoke billowed from the entrance area of the house, making me feel a little uncomfortable.

Coming home after work, standing barefoot across the road,
watching the fire brigade pack up their gear after putting
out a fire in my apartment house...

Since quite a few tenants were standing on their balconies, however, watching the firemen working, one might guess that it was only a minor incident. I got confirmation of that notion, asking one of the firemen, what had happened: a washing machine in the laundry room had caught fire. Well, at least no injuries, no other casualties... just some machinery lost, leaving me as well as the other tenants with the question where to do the laundry in the near future...

I guess I'm in for a barefoot visit to a laundromat by the end of this week.

Oh, and since the firemen had trampled through soot and dirt, that barefoot walk in the slightly smoky hallway gave me really soot-black soles.
    :D

Barefoot all day today, mostly around the house and garden, but also went for a hike through the woods including some thick squishy mud that felt ridiculously good!

With rain falling from the early morning to late afternoon, I was elated to do some puddlefooting on my way to work, enjoying to wiggle my toes in rain water and splash around in puddles. After a very dry and very warm spring (record-setting in my region, being the warmest spring ever since weather records were begun to take, 120 years ago), this rainy day was very welcome to me. By the time the work day was over, it had stopped raining, and this morning shows an almost clear sky with the promise of a sunny day ahead.

Since the earphones on my MP3 player broke down (right channel dead), I will have to do some barefoot shopping in an electronics store after work today.

On Sunday I registered at the Hotel in Grand Rapids MI then went to a Kroger store to buy some essentials I had left at home. interestingly Kroger employee was watering the outdoor plants so I decided to trek through the puddles and left barefoot prints for about 10 yards inside the store. I stayed one night in Grand Rapids returned to Indiana. I stopped at another store and bought a beverage in Angola IN. Tuesday I went to Warsaw IN and went several places barefoot including an Owens, the Warsaw Public Library and my insurance agency. Returned to Fort Wayne and went to the Post office while still barefoot. That's the most barefooting I've done in 72 hours

In to London today (bus, train, tube and by foot) to the London Green Fair in Regents Park. Glorious weather for barefooting; I could have done with a naturist stop or 2 as well.
Had a few looks and smiles. One woman told me I had forgotten my shoes!
But I didn't see any other barefooters at all. Where are they all?

I went barefoot to the laundromat today - first time in over 20 years, that I used one of those... but since that fire in my apartment house last Monday destroyed our laundry room and all the machines in there, I was forced to spend some money for having clean clothes for the working week.

Even though it was certainly warm enough to walk barefoot - in fact, almost topical with high humidity and thunderstorms passing the town (missing it, though - other regions in our state were less lucky) - I was the only barefooter around there. Aside from the occasional quizzical look at my feet, there were no comments or hassles. And I enjoyed the extra refreshment walking on the wet pavement from and to the tram stops near my place and the laundromat.

a big step for me, went around town barefoot in shorts today. Ive only done this in long trousers previously. walked through a market, shopping centre and up and down the high-street. Got a few glances but mostly people seemed not to notice at all, in fact very few people even glanced in my direction. Id spot a barefooter a mile away! I dont think brits care about barefooters at all, it felt so liberating.

I hope your exams went well and you're now free to ditch shoes and enter a fully barefoot world (that is, if winters aren't too cold).
    :sunny:

Yesterday I went barefoot on my way to work and afterwards, as usual, also doing some shopping in a supermarket - when I was addressed by one of the employees there, just as I was packing my stuff into my shopping bag (uh-oh), but he just wanted me to step back from the metal plate I was standing on, since he wanted to operate the elevator hidden beneath it to bring up some crates of beer and soda from the hidden underground storage. As I stepped aside, I heard an elderly lady say to someone else "That's The Barefoot Man" with audible capitals, as if that was my official title - perhaps a belated reference to the local newspaper interview about me and my barefooting, done in February this year.

I was a little bummed that I forgot about it because I love being barefoot (just would've been different had I been in public). I was in school and couldn't figure out for the life of me why there was a barefoot girl walking around but then I remembered. Only nasty thing is public restrooms and if I would've participated I definitely would've brought some backup flip-flops for that very occasion.
