I hate to say this, but it reads like you're simply looking for justification to legally grow dope. May I suggest you move to CA?

I know an area in this country where it grows wild now. As long as the farmers don't report it or cultivate it, nothing is said. But when they're going to plant the field again, they do plow it under for green manure. More than once, my uncle mentioned how it sure makes the corn grow like nuts. And knowing something about the way it grows, you're not saving much with it. It costs energy to harvest it. More energy to process it. And if you're looking to get the oil out of it, it takes even more energy to cook it. For the amount of oil you get from it, you're just breaking even. Unless, you'd like to add solar to help power the process, then you're right back where we were with the hydrogen.

Yes, it does take energy to process it out of water. But, it takes absolutely no energy to harvest it from the fields. It can be transported to other locations by existing pipelines. And stored in reversible metal hydrides, it is quite docile. The key to making it more efficient is in the power used to electrolize it.

Pic related, albeit good luck finding a government willing to fund such a project.

Some people might be thinking solar plants will only produce power in the daytime. A very large scale solar thermal collector plant in the desert could be built in a way that residual heat in substrates, pipes, tanks or plates continues to boil water and run turbines for hours or even days without sun.

Even using natural gas or coal as a back up to compensate at night would be better then what we have now which is all gas and coal all the time.

go look how a solar panel is made, start to finish. you dont want us to polute our atmosphere, but you think it is okay to build massive mines and to destroy ecosystems? mining in any situation is bad, not only that but it would require multiple large facilities to create the solar panels that would also produce dangerous byproducts, and use more energy than most panels can produce in years.

these greedy oil companies would never allow the government to do enough research for this work . Big Oil lobbyist from OPEC works very hard to ensure this.

I'll give it to you that the construction of such a thing as the image I posted would pollute the atmosphere, but to say it would pollute it less than today is just absurd. Once the project was finished the amount of energy that we would obtain NOT polluting the atmosphere would justify any in the creation of it.

That aside, we probably don't even have to dig for the silicon to make the solar panels in the near future. If anyone has been keeping up with physics and chemistry lately then you might have heard last year about two Russian physicists that discovered a little thing called graphene from an ordinary graphite pencil. Graphene is capable of all the things that silicon is capable of, is stronger than diamond, and transmits information at a faster rate.

I'm not talking about atmosphere pollution!! Everyone wants to focus on carbon emissions. But it seems everyone has a hard time thinking about the other effects of everything we do, sure you can make solar power plants, or hydro-electric but that wont do any good when we are still destroying the rainforests digging huge mines(especially for solar power) which disrupt ecosystems and kll numerous plants and animals which help keep this amazing system called nature in balance. Seriously ts like everyone looks at the sky and cant seem to notice we are harming ecosystems much in much worse ways. You all think you are so eco friendly because you are concerned about "carbon emissions" but you cant seem to wrap your heads the more important facts. Hemp can be grown on farmland that is not already being utilized to its fullest(ex. land that the government pay farmers not to use) and although some resources will be needed to refine the oil we can use old refinery and/or factories plants etc unlke solar which according to the diagram would still be disrupting more ecosystems. Also hemp is ecofriendly in the sense that it would drastically reduce the need for lumber which is being cut down from living forests everyday. So yeah you can save the atmosphere while the planet down here is being destroyed, but i'll look for something more
