Hello all, About a month ago I went for a walk and came back with a blister on my heel. It's about the size of a dime. It doesnt hurt and I've been walking on it just fine but it doesnt seem to be going away. It looks just about like it did the day I got it. Is this normal? It's the first blister I've ever had on my foot. I did some internet research about whether or not I should pop it on my own. Thanks.
Basing it off my simple, 16 year old medical knowledge, from my mother who is a nurse, it doesn't sound like it can be a blister, and I thought that because of how long you've had it. It could possibly be a plantar wart that you've gotten in a public shower or restroom, or if someone else who had a wart and went barefoot around you. P.S. plantar warts may not show for a while. Even up to months. Unless you're sure absolutey no one else went barefoot around you or you didn't at all go to a public shower/pool/beach/contaminated restroom, I have no idea. Edit: blisters CAN last 2-3 weeks, but even that Is uncommon. A month might be possible on rare occasions. Plantar warts too, since encased in a callous covering can be mistakes for a blister.
It's defintely a blister. I know remember exactly where I was when I got it. I think part of the problem is that I keep walking on it and that's agitating it. I'm wondering if I should pierce it to help it along. Thanks.
Alright, so it's a blister. If it doesn't bother you at all, leave it alone. It's your body's way of preventing infection of worn down skin anyway. (Hence agitated skin that isn't agitated enough to become a blister becomes tough, and have calluses) But if you truly want to get rid of it,wash the area and your hands plus some antibiotic soap,a needle sanitized in rubbing alcohol or bleach, pop it, drain the fluid out, thoroughly rinse both that foot, your hands, even the sink, and dry it out. wash the area again, then cover with a -thin- layer of antibiotic ointment, and cover it up with a strip of gauze, or if a bandaid will suffice. I realize the paragraph above will either help, or you already know the procedure of popping a blister and I just taught you something you already know. either way, lol.
leave blisters alone. dont pierce them, you only open the door to extra pain and extended risk of infections. just wait for it to go away. though uncommon, blisters may happen. maybe you stepped on a burning cig without noticing ?
It was pretty hot outside and I got it while walking across a parking lot and down a asphalt trail. A few days ago I started putting an antibiotic on it and I think it's gone down since then.
