a friend told me the hippies were the first to appreciate the dandelion as a flower

    all of nature is a marvel to me. but thanks for this tidbit; it just adds one more thing to my list of what i love about mother. and by the way, thanks for the wine recipe. i think i'll try it! peace, paisley.

    :daisy: i like flowers and bright colors. whether they are weeds or not is totally unimportant. let's look for beauty in all of nature. paisley skye :hippy:

    Like back in 66 or so, hippie chicks would pick free, wild dandelion flowers and tie the stems into a loop, and then they would simply tie the next loop to the one before and they would create a "daisy chain" to wear as crown or a head band.

    I would think that this is where dandelions became associated with hippies. The public saw a great many images of hippie girls taken by male cameramen and male photographers which appeared in magazines, newspapers, and in the TV news. The general public saw this perspective time and time again. And to an extent it was true.

    Ever hear of the term "Flower Child"?

    Dandelions were also used to make dandelion tea.
    Dandelion stalks are used as greens as a salad.

    Enjoy your new fairy princess crown.
