i went on an alaskan cruise with my parents and brother. it was an awesome trip, regardless of the hit of LSD i took at one of the ports!

i'll post about the cruise chronologically, and it's gonna be picture heavy, so i won't get to the psychedelic trip until post 4.

first we cruised through the Inside Passage. this was the first of three "scenic cruising" days, and there were two other days at sea, with not much to see but ocean all around, which can still be pretty scenic.

the second day, we stopped at Keitchikan, where we looked around town for a bit
    [IMG]

    and then went zip-lining!

that was fun & a bit scary. ~100 feet up in the air, on platforms that are only 10 feet wide...with 10 other people. we were harnessed in securely, but it's still a tiny bit scary even if you aren't classically afraid of heights. mainly it was fun as hell...my parents were a bit more scared, haha.
we did 7 zip-lines and two suspension bridges.

next day was another scenic cruising one, through Tracy Arm Strait.

next stop...the state capital, Juneau. checked out town a little, and then went on a whale watch

This is what I did in Alaska... It was too cold to do much else. Plus digital cameras were kinda rare.

also saw a bald eagle and sea lions
    [IMG]

then the whale watch excursion continued and took us to Mendenhall Glacier where me and my brother got to touch "250 year old glacial ice" and a RAGING, COLD waterfall. that was probably my favorite thing we did the whole trip, even better than the day i took acid i think! but we only had 45 minutes at the glacier/waterfall. and it took 10 or 15 to walk/jog out to it :[

next stop was the day i took the hit of L. at Icy Strait Point. i guess i'll just say we continued to Anchorage, Homer, Kodiak, Hubbard Glacier, Sitka, and finally Victoria, BC (Canada). there are some sweet pics in my album of those places, and maybe i'll post some more later, but for now, onto the trippy part of this trip!

first we all did some easy hiking around on the beach and through the woods. looked sorta like this

i knew it was gonna be a great day and place to trip. our parents wanted to go into the town, so we split up, and me and brother stayed behind to do some off-trail hiking. i took one hit of
    [presumed] LSD.

about 35 minutes later we were in some of the thickest woods i've ever been in. and so mossy too. minimal bugs because it was kinda cold. i was feeling the trip creeping up on me quickly. i took this picture (3 really) before i lost the ability to use my camera.

i remember saying to my brother "i took two of these last time?!"

i put in a pair of headphones and gave my bother my extra pair. Modest Mouse was on, which was pretty cool since i had met the secondary percussionist's parents a day a two ago! i was already noticing that special something to music i have loved for years. i was rocking out to it, walking about in the woods. it was perfect.

actually, i recall feeling a weird pressure in the right side of my head. really early into the trip, and i was kind of just able to write it off as a weird sensation, and told myself that there was NO use in getting hung up on it.

    still...
almost perfect. we continued walking around in the dense woods for another 30-40 minutes (i dunno really) and my brother had to use the bathroom. so we were headed back to the tourist shops and slightly crowded areas. i was up for it - definitely tripping good, but enough to keep myself composed around strangers. while he took his time in there, i laid on a bench with my headphones now playing Pinback.

    http://grooveshark.com/s/Good+To+Sea/bxfDa?src=5

that moment "alone" seemed to be the peak. i was tripping "profoundly" but now i can't really remember what seemed so special about that moment. just drifting off into the music i suppose. and i remember after getting up the dock seemed to be moving (shops were built on a huge wooden dock). people mentioned this effect later - due to adjusting to the ship's motion, they felt motion again on land, but i'm sure it was 90% me tripping. i could have sworn that the hills were moving as well.

i ate a pear somewhere in there. had to mention that since the orange got so much attention in my last trip report! hehe

we walked around some more and came across modest mouse's parents again. my brother told her that i was actually listening to modest mouse...for a second i thought he said something like, "yeah he's actually tripping on LSD right now." :]

we sat around a fire pit that someone? had started, and got warm. it wasn't
that cold...maybe ~50 F, but it was windy.

we kicked a hack[y sack] for awhile, and i was surprising myself with my skills. we didn't have much time before we had to "tender" back to the ship (that's ride in the lifeboat back, because at some ports the cruise ship couldn't get close enough to shore)

so we tendered (hehe) and on the way back, i was imagining the most disturbing scenarios. my headphones were playing Rise Against now (might have had something to do with it)

    http://grooveshark.com/s/Prayer+Of+The+Refugee/2af5hJ?src=5

"this whole fucking thing is going down...and i'm gonna have to watch all these people die because i'm gonna have to focus on saving me and my brother. i can get us to shore though.."

it was a bumpy ride (i guess physically and mentally) back to the ship. we got there and it was time to change for dinner. it wasn't a formal night, but we're still supposed to wear a collared shirt at the nice dining room.

wait...it wasn't time for dinner yet. it was only about 4:00, whatever that meant...

i guess it meant that we had time to go swimming. so my brother and i got changed for that and went to the pool. i kind of already felt that my trip was waning, and i had dosed around noon, only ~4 hours ago. i was still tripping for sure, the peak had past though. i felt like swimming kind of sobered me up, since my body knew it had to concentrate on not drowning :]

i stepped into the bathroom and looked into the mirror! i felt like it grabbed ahold of me. i should have locked the door, but i might have stayed in there forever. so i just stared at the reflection of my mouth. i picked one spot on my bottom lip and focused my attention there. the light in the room got darker, and took on a brighter orange color at the same time. "i" was so still in the mirror. i felt like if i moved, my reflection might stay still. or maybe i felt like if i stayed still long enough my reflection was gonna move. someone opened the door right behind me!
(this was a small public bathroom, where the sink was separate from the toilet and urinal - the sink was right there when you opened the door)"turn on the water, act like you're washing your hands. dry.exit." (these are thoughts in quotes)

got into the hot tub with my bro. he joked that maybe the chlorine was killing my trip. i laughed but then i kinda took it seriously. i've heard that it's bad to take really warm showers, because the chlorine can seep into your pores. if there's any truth to that, then it can DEFINITELY do it in a hot tub. "maybe the chlorine was getting into my bloodstream and degrading the LSD....nah"

my mom was at the pool now and i was completely able to keep my cool. my pupils were not dilated at all the whole trip. i asked my brother several times (maybe he doesn't know), but they weren't when i checked either. it was now time for dinner. we got changed and went to a four course meal. i couldn't say for sure what i had. maybe salmon for my entree, and a sorbet (pretty much sherbet i think) for dessert. i had a decent appetite, but not as much as usual. food was great on the cruise. had the best steak of my life, and pretty good crab legs and lobster too. had duck, lamb...sushi most days for [part of] lunch.

we went to the singing/dancing show after dinner. they weren't very good on other nights, but i enjoyed the show this night :]

even their cheesy music was slightly enhanced and i felt like they were performing with me in mind. this trip is seeming a bit "ego-manic-ish" as i type it out. like acid gives me delusions of grandeur to a small extent. unless of course it's gently compressing my ego into a small ball of nothingness. i think i've never taken a high enough dose to completely have full on ego death though.

then i think i went about the rest of the night pretty normally. probably got changed, played ping pong, went to "the crow's nest" to listen to a halfway decent band or a shitty, cheezy DJ (not like a mixer, just playing songs). had a slight headache. got some more food. slightly craved a bong hit or two later that night, but other than that i hardly missed weed at all for 16 days!

this trip was heavy on the recreational aspect i guess. it didn't get too deep, other than in the mirror. but i enjoyed it a lot.

also on the cruise, i sang karaoke for the first time. i chose Time by Pink Floyd, then since i had already broke outta my shell, i sang two more, Give it Away and my brother joined me for Under the Bridge by RHCP.

that's about it for now, i better submit this before i erase it somehow..

Sounds like a pretty good time, a nice light trip for the cruise.

I've always enjoyed hacking while tripping, and although it might just be my memory it seems like I do play better tripping.. there's just more concentration.

Anyway, nice to hear that you enjoyed it!

you know even on 3 hits there are periods where my eyes were not dilated. this also happens on the 2c's; 50mg 2c-b gives me zero eye dilation, ditto 2c-e . . . i suppose you are LIKELY to get dilation but there are periods where the muscle controlling the pupil is not affected momentarily due to the pervasive wave form of the psychedelic experience; back forth, to fro, start stop, come go, up down

sounds like an incredible trip :) I hope to go out to BC within the next few months for a few days. That should be something

Much like the airport terminals across the country, this seaport terminal could get confusing and hectic real quick if you aren't paying attention.

Through your quotations and written experience, I can kind of get a feel for parts of the
headspace you were in during your trip. Interesting!

Those pictures are great and looks like an ideal spot for a trip. I want to try one of those zipline things, I think I'd probably chicken out once I got up there though.

Porkstock singing karaoke HAHAHA! I don't even know you but for some reason that's very funny to me. It's cool you had a pear this time and keeping up with the trip fruits. Hackey sack on LSD seems like it would be very fun and interesting.

Sounds cool! Do you feel like it was worth it in the end since you had to focus on ''keeping it together'' instead of tripping?

I worked in a zipline/suspension bridge place for a summer. What an awesome job. Just taking people up in the trees and stuff everyday. Ahhh, I miss the days before ''real life'' started.

Those are some breath-taking sights. Sounded pretty spectacular! Trips seem to have a lot different effects when your out in a new environment like that. I would of loved to stay in that forest all day.

awesome, because that's part of what we're aiming for when we write a trip report.

you wouldn't chicken out. the first one is tiny, like a practice one. but after that you're in the tree platforms and you'd have to climb straight down somehow - they said (and i believed them) that climbing down was scarier than just doing the zips.

i'm glad that you see the humor in me singing karaoke. you probably know my personality pretty well from on here. but yeah, i'm not usually quite so outgoing, kinda quiet. and i did that without even having a drink! :)

we took pears every day in my backpack, because we were missing lunch on the ship if we were out all day. never knew i liked pears so much. things are so juicy.

hacky sack is awesome, any time, sober, high or tripping. i mainly only hack with my brother when i see him, and i'm always wishing we had at least a third person. if you hack, you know how much more challenging it is with only 2. i hacked a LOT in high school, and we had huge circles back then. ye good ole days

yeah it was worth it, i was tripping in an ALASKAN rainforest, man! :sunny:that's the farthest i've ever traveled.

i went into it knowing that i'd have to somewhat keep my composure. but i am an adult, and successful in my parents eyes...and they know that i smoke pot, i suppose if they found out i was tripping they'd still be pretty pissed and disappointed, but i was pretty sure that nothing was gonna get outta control. i spent the peak of the trip away from them. i had taken two hits of the same stuff about 3 weeks prior, so i sort of knew the strength and i only took one this time. i think they are still pretty potent hits though, some of the better ones i've had!

similar to what GB was saying, maybe in another thread...i wouldn't recommend this to someone new to psychedelics, (as it was definitely not the best setting), but i've tripped enough times to know what i can and what i can't (or don't want to even try to) handle.

i guess i like to trip for fun sometimes, and for "learning and growth" other times. psychedelics are definitely not drugs to get fucked up on, but i honestly have to say i sometimes treat them like that. what's wrong with getting fucked up every once in awhile? but i don't get very fucked up, i feel more tuned IN, maybe
lifted up. well now i'm just rambling (this will happen when i have no tolerance to weed), but my point is, sometimes i like to trip on a low dose of LSD or 2ce and go to a concert, or go see a sweet movie (rarely do i do this), shit i've even went to the mall a few times (can't really recommend that). i like to dose at small festivals. but i also like to dose at home by myself, or with one person i'm really close with. you can trip in many ways.

quote from my mom "do as i say, not as i do"

oh and back to your quote, i thought that would be a sweet job. that's two times i've been impressed by your cool-ness (other time was the sensory deprivation tank)

me too. after we hacked, we didn't have long to get back to the tender boat. i had told my younger brother he was in charge, since i was gonna be tripping. i wanted to just make one more quick loops through the woods, but he said we couldn't..we didn't have time. i know we DID have time though

tripping out in nature is definitely one of the best settings

you guys got the best selection of my pictures, i had too many to upload them all

Nice summary of what looks like a great vacation PS. I like your added photos in your TR's, it adds to the feeling (a picture is worth a thousand words)
You skipped over it quick but interesting what you felt what is sometimes called dock rock, or, having your sea legs. It's a result of your sense of balance (from your inner ears) being 'reset' after being on a boat for a long time. Sometimes called vestibular illusion. You get on solid ground and still feel like you're rocking like on the boat. Years back I spent time deadheading on a fishing boat and I always liked that feeling. But I never experienced it on L, only weed and beer.
The scenery and activities looks like you had a blast. (except for the ziplining, I don't do heights well:) ) Thanks for the write up, glad it was such a great... um, trip. :sunny:

^^^yup, "dock rock" although i hadn't heard it called that. weird though, because i don't feel like i ever adjusted to being on the ship. it still felt like we were rocking all over the place, enough to make me stumble a bit sometimes. but i suppose my inner ears had at least tried to adjust, because i felt like solid land was moving a few times - not just tripping either, and i wasn't the only one to notice this effect. the only other cruise ship i was on didn't rock around nearly as much - might have been a bigger ship and i think carribbean waters might be more calm.

i guess my trip was "nice and light" but i certainly wouldn't think to describe it like that. even a "light trip" on LSD is pretty intense! was NOT like a couple other times when i've taken a hit or two and barely tripped.

oh, and i definitely can relate to listening to modest mouse in the woods...so amazing! :sunny:
