it aint no different than that one emo song they play on the radio all the time about soldiers pissing in the prisoner's hands and what not. sad and fucked up, but not metal. it could easily be turned to metal. as it stands it's a capella. unless you want to count the occasional thumbtap on the acoustic guitar you can tell he's holding, then it's
Hey, I disagree with you, how rare! It is a fucking awesome song. But I am one of those rare metal fans who freely admits that metal is typically campy and always sensational. Even stark, serious metal, is a little sensational or flamboyant. It could possibly be 'harder' than any metal song released this year (haven't been keeping up lately), and many blues ballads are often 'harder' than many metal songs, but I can think of many classics that beat it.
yeah, that's a good rewording.. It's definately got that feeling of despair and "this shit sucks" attitude. edit" the song doesn't suck, but what the singer is talking about he wants you to feel this shit sucks.
For sure. It's about nam, he was a vet. I think it's probably true, he got his balls blown off in luang prabang....
I dunno about that, but I liked this quote I saw by him when I looked up the lyrics to it. "An imperialist love song, also a protest against wimpy anti-war songs."
"Metal" does not come to mind when I listened to that, sorry, not the most metal song i've heard this year.
