I love being a vegetarian, to be honest. It's one of the first big independent choices I made in my life, and I am proud of it. There are so many good reasons to be a vegetarian. Personally, I just hate the idea of eating an animal. And for me, that includes fish. I never really understood why fish would not logically be classified as meat, though. They are living animals with a face.. to me, that means that if you kill it and eat it, it's meat. This post doesn't have a point, really.. just thought I'd share this. Peace eace:
Scientists from the University of Michigan have discovered a nerve system in plants; in a peer-reviewed botany journal Bill Williams of the Helvetica Institute was quoted as saying, "plants not only seem to be aware and to feel pain, they can even communicate." Source (it's a really interesting article, read it!) I don't mean to knock your lifestyle choice at all; in fact, I think you should be proud for doing what you feel is right. Just don't forget that all life is life, we are all in the cycle; and no matter what you choose to eat -- or what others choose to eat -- all forms of life deserve respect.
Really? That;s some crazy ass shit! But I believe it!! My mom always ranted about something called "cries of the carrots" I guess she was right! That's really interesting, dude
It makes me feel bad that I like to pick leaves off of bushes and trees, but it's a hard habit to break!
:O I would sometimes do the same thing! I agree, it's kind of hard to stop. What about if we walk on grass?
So when people say plants have feelings to i cant say otherwise, well, that kinda sucks. But nonetheless, is really interesting man.
I know. If there was a way for me to survive without eating anything that had lived, I would do it. But there isn't a way for that, haha. So vegetarianism suits me just perfectly.
Seriously?? Like what? I wanted to be a vegetarian once because of the animal rights stuff, but I honestly just can't. Or I'm just not ready. I love meat so much.
i read somewhere that grass was meant to be walked on, as well as cropped [mowed by animals], some sort of evolutionary trick aiding in propogation or whatever [wish my brain was awake]
where does one draw the line between alive and not-alive? proteins can self-replicate, are they alive? i'm eating nothing but rocks [no crystals either!] all joking aside, there are days when i wish breatharianism worked . . .
my bad, oversimplification, they help nucleic acids replicate, it all gets so confusing for the layman still, what's alive mean? as regards the op, i can pull weeds, but find killing flies an impossibility so i eat where i'm comfortable - plants, fungi and yeast, bacteria, etc. and incidentals - rice cultivation is said to be bloody work for the aquatic life in the paddies . . .
