I just read this fictional story about a girl who was the daughter of a prostitute. The story wasn't about her mom's different clients or anything like that. The main character was still in high school and she was sort of known as the daughter of the town whore. People making rude comment and so on, but that is not the point of this entry. What I really found strange was that the men who used the mother's services could look down on the daughter or the mother. I mean, seriously what is she doing wrong? Others may have the right to do it, but not them...The mother was trying to earn money, given there are better ways but still.... *He* is the one who should be ashamed and embarrassed. So why is it the whore who is dirty and looked down on? Why is she the scum of the earth? What is she really doing wrong? Shouldn't it be the "client" people should be looking down on? Everyone needs money to live, most people however doesn't need to pay people to have sex with them. They are the ones that are using another human being's body as a mere tool for sexual release. The whore is just trying to earn a living...
Have to agree, but then I have some respect for prostitution. If one is clean and professional, taking all precautions, there's nothing to be ashamed of. What was the story, if I may ask?
The daughter should go get involved with the most ultra conservative religious and political organizations, to screw with the mom's sense of societal acceptance of what she's doing. It's not a game, prostitution is a CRIME!
Ive always wondered that myself...why is there such a double standard when it comes to sex? But then again, women werent even allowed to have a voice in the bedroom till the 60's, right?
^stigma against prostitution is total BS It's all sexual freedom If I can screw a stranger for free, or get busy after a dinner date, why shouldn't I have the freedom to capitalize? I'm not saying prostitution is always a healthy form of sexual freedom, but I think it CAN be.
Im not even gonna address the "is prostetution wrong or not?" question...im just stating the fact that there is an unfair judgement on women who do the same things men do without those same ramifications.
Your statement applies to a lot of scenarios but in this case I have to ask, how many men have you seen standing on street corners, wearing revealing clothing and expecting to be paid for sex? I personally do feel like prostitution should be legalized and controlled to protect everyone involved but I would not want my daughter or grandmother to be or have ever been a prostitute. I don't think the men are pigs either though. Men have a built in powerful drive to have sex. I see females argue against it and say thats bullshit and yada yada but deep down I think they know its true. It's basic mammalian behavior. Other male mammals don't have cultural ethics to contend with as human males do. I hate that society does not want to accept this and men are looked at as sick perverts for being horny and looking to fuck all the time. It's unrealistic and dishonest. Having said that I agree its not fair that men can sleep with many women and it is ok, but women are looked at as dirty somehow when they fuck lots of men. It's all a bunch of crap.
Whores who enjoy their profession are severely underrated, IMO. I look down upon neither johns nor whores, unless I`m getting a blow job.
The fact is that if there were no demand, the "crime" would not exist. In free enterprise, you do not look down on someone that takes advantage of demand to get the money to line his pockets. Why look down on a woman that takes advantage of a demand that can get her money? That's what free enterprise is all about. Supplying the demand. But, then... I also put it back on women. If wives would supply more of what their husbands need from them, it would reduce the demand for other women to supply. I know a few men that think they're more of a man if they have more women under their belts, but far more that go looking because the wifey at home simply won't supply their needs. That's what creates the demand. I have my own reasons for not doing business with these women, but it's not a matter of looking down on them. I know a couple of "former" that are now dealing with AIDS. I feel sorry for them, but there's not much I can do for them.
i think many people dont do it as a "first option" and thats when i feel its not that good. if thats what you, in actuallity, want to do then i suppose, whatever....
Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world and it's almost always had a stigma attached to it, or been taboo. Being looked down on comes with the territory. I believe it should be legalized, regulated, and taxed.
