    Thanks Ganesha although I've been fully barefoot now for all my adult life and like Tigerlily flip-flops tend to be my winter footwear, but I did concede defeat in December when it was absolutely freezing and put on my Uggs. Mind you I got even funnier looks for that than being barefoot as it's almost unheard of for my feet to be completely covered!
    BTW loved your story about your experience in the supermarket, hope you're revelling in your barefoot celebrity status

    Driver's Ed class. It's much less of a hassle than trying to go barefoot to high school.

    Went to the auto repair shop to pick up my car from being repaired. The owner/mechanic wasn't at all surpriused as this wasn't the first time (by far). He took me on the repair floor to show me something under my car which was on a lift.

    To a local grassroots cooperative for some munchies (for the second time). No one said anything, even along the busy highway I did most of the walking along.

    The usual multiple places since discarding all shoes. But one was Barnes and Noble where I crossed paths with an employee on my way out. He looked down at my barefeet and said awesome. That was kinda nice.

    No state has laws against driving barefoot. For whoever told you that--this must be in the category of "shit we made up." State laws and regulations can be found on the Internet. I defy anyone to find such a thing.

    IC 9-21-8-52
    Reckless driving
    Sec. 52. (a) A person who operates a vehicle and who recklessly:
    (1) drives at such an unreasonably high rate of speed or at such an unreasonably low rate of speed under the circumstances as to:
    (A) endanger the safety or the property of others; or
    (B) block the proper flow of traffic;
    (2) passes another vehicle from the rear while on a slope or on a curve where vision is obstructed for a distance of less than five hundred (500) feet ahead;
    (3) drives in and out of a line of traffic, except as otherwise permitted; or
    (4) speeds up or refuses to give one-half (1/2) of the roadway to a driver overtaking and desiring to pass

    Doesn't say anything about the attire of the driver. It wasn't what you had or didn't have on your feet--it was what you did with them. If a cop told you otherwise, (s)he was messing with you.

    Visited a neighbor, walked into town along the boulevard, and hung out in the park. Relaxing day, feeling free. Life is good.

    I would look at the ticket and verify the specific statute(s) cited:devil:. Look up the statute(s) to see where there is a requirement or specification for footwear. I am not a lawyer, I do not play a lawyer on television nor am I attempting to dispense legal advice, just some common sense.

    I love barefooting in the early hours! Personally I feel it's more relaxing, with less activity going on in my neighborhood, unfortunately it gets kinda cold in Minnesota. especially in the mornings.
