What if sex was like eating food? Whenever I try to imagine a society in which all the sex stigmas and shame attached to it are wiped out, I wonder what having sex would be like. It obviously wouldn't be private anymore, or something to hide, so I often imagine that it would be just like eating food. Thus, I use food as my benchmark for predicting how, in what ways, in what settings, etc, people would have sex. For example, we often say "let's do lunch" when we want to do business with someone. If it was a guy and a girl, they could say "let's have sex" and "maybe afterwards, we'll talk business, and maybe after business is done, we'll have some more sex. What'dya say?" If she's busy having sex with someone else, she could say "Oh, I think I'm busy this afternoon, but why don't I schedule you in for tomorrow." Around the board room, we sometimes bring in deli styles lunches and everyone digs in while discussing business. If sex were like food, you might find two or three couples around the table getting it on. The boss might say "You guys paying attention?" and the horny couple would say "Yeah, yeah, we're listening. Continue." Sometimes we're in a hurry and we eat as we go. Can you imagine people masturbating as they walk down the street? Or sometimes we go on a picnic lunch. After lunch the kids can go play while mom and dad do it right on the grass. At a house warming party, while guests are snacking on all the orderves, they might have to pass by a couple getting it on right between the deviled eggs and the mini-sausage rolls. Ah, such a utopia of stigma-free sexuality might only exist in our dreams, but who knows - dreams do sometimes become a reality and maybe some day this will be the norm of daily life.
Quickie = fast food? Interesting idea, dude .... the thing with food though is that most of the time you have to pay for it some way or the other.
Think about it... In most cases, you pay for it anyhow. But, if sex were food, most women would starve.
You could grow your own food... or maybe get it from nature. But it is an interesting point. If all the stigma attached to sex was gone, prostitution would probably become legal and even a respectable vocation. Would everybody start charging for sex in that case (probably women more often than men)? I know I'd want something in return if someone asked if they could eat half my sandwich... but if it was a fair trade (half a sandwich for a bag of chips, let's say), I'd be OK with that. What's the equivalent for sex? Would it be if both parties are horny for each other, they both give each other a freebie?
Interesting concept. Work life would not be the same, but I bet as a whole, people would be healthier (provided STI/STD's were cure-able or non existent).
Haha, great idea, If you really want it, it could happen, start with a small circle/group of friends who are sexually free.. and the ball rolls from there.. Doesnt have to be on a global scale, yet, could be in your world though!
