The random thoughts running through my head probably would not interest you, but occasionally a good idea happens up there, in all that miss-mash. One of them is to grow sunflowers in my garden. Flower power is an old expression of hippie love and freedom, although sunflowers are empowering in their own ways. Sunflower seeds are nutritious, can be blended and filtered in water to extract vegetable oil, and only stand behind corn in productivity per acre. Like hemp, sunflower is fast growing and requires little pesticide and irrigation. Every part of the sunflower is useful. There of course is the seed, but the stalk contains natural fibers that can be woven into baskets and rope. The lightweight cores can be used as an alternative to foam. The leaves can be fed to animals as roughage or dried and used as toilet paper. Sunflowers are very striking plants, and bloom much longer than other flowers. They follow the sun in the sky, making them the most optimistic and carefree plants around. Sunflowers stand tall and are fairly self-sufficient. Sunflowers can be used to dry soggy ground. Sunflowers help to achieve independence, because of their many uses. Hippies have used sunflowers before, but if a crowd decides to protest by planting flowers, I would plant some sunflower seeds. If they are everywhere, people will get the idea.
one of my friends had some birdseed that the squirrels got into and his yard is awesome now full of sunflowers in the summer wherever he doesnt mow :sunny: I dont know if the squirrels scattered them or if they just ate them and passed them but theyre everywhere lol
I don't have anywhere to grow sunflowers at the moment, but I will damn sure eat some and think of you, lol. I'm super addicted to the reduced sodium ones, I think they are made by Lance. This thread made me want some.
Fuck, I bought a giant size bag of sunflower seeds yesterday that I had intended to bring to work today, but I totally forgot about it. I should have read this post earlier.
