So I've read a lot online and on this site about people saying if someone develops any mental disturbances such as anxiety or depression or something post tripping, it's a result of previous underlying issues and not a result of the drug itself. I do believe that this is definitely the case in some situations but I don't really believe it to be completely true.

For example....during a trip someone who experiences extreme feelings of empathy for others or deep appreciation for nature or something like that many times carries those insights into their sober life and are forever changed in a positive way. This doesnt necessarily mean they had underlying empathetic qualities or that subconsciously they had some deep appreciation for nature that was waiting to be unlocked. They just experienced life in a new light and the good vibes stuck with them.

So...on the flip side of that I feel like someone who experiences anxiety or paranoia during a negative trip as a result of the wrong set and setting or something is equally as likely to have residual effects from their experience, only in this case negative ones. We've all experienced the after glow after tripping or rolling and everything just feels brand new for a while after a good experience...

So why is it so unlikely that anxiety or paranoia or something could linger from a negative trip and not necessarily be a result of underlying mental issues?

....I also wanna clarify that in both cases positive or negative I don't believe its the "drug" so much that influences peoples psyche but more so the experiences and revelations they have while on them. The drug just acts more as a catalyst in my opinion

I think clearly our exceptions are blown away each time we trip.. Maybe the depression is the result of something you may feel that will never take place again.. And the paranoia would be the loss of that.. I kinda feel like that today after a Molly trip with someone. While it wasn't too large a dose my brain is a Totally fried at the moment from the company and setting. Underlining paranoia that I may lose what I have or also how society may reflect upon my relationship with this person as it is difficult for some to grasp..
