I really hate using peoples first names. Even in person I rarely address somebody by name unless absolutely neccessary. And I try to refrain from addressing somebody else by name unless they have addressed me by name previously.

That being said; Trish, quit whining. :X

no problem; it'll be interval from now on. though i can't help but wonder how it's impolite to call someone by their name, once given. i'm not usually in the habit of formal allowances like you're suggesting.

A lot of people sign their reps anymore with their real name, as do I. I just prefer to call people by their username. Whenever people start calling everyone by their first name in threads it seems to be really cliquey to me.

It drives me off from posting in the thread because I feel inferior. If people want to use my first name they can but first they have to know it which some should

and i know people say my name a lot... ive MET 5 people from here person in person- talk to many others...

but when a person that i dont like and never told my real name to or a person i never even heard of says "trish- blah blah blah"

I love my Forum name - I doubt I'll ever sign anything with my real name (though I suppose if you did enough research it wouldn't be that hard to find). I love the whole 'anonymity' thing.

BTW - I think I may have called you "Trish" once or twice, a month or so ago, but at the time, it seemed like everyone was doing that. I had gotten the idea that perhaps you wanted it that way. In any case, I rarely use anyone's name - real or forum ID - I prefer to quote those I'm posting to in specific - that way I don't have to worry about how to properly address people I don't really know.
