Seriously, it's not just the clothes, it was his way and style. He was the first hippy that offered love over anthing else in his life. Just wanted peace and to enjoy life without the influence of the establishment. Nothing for profit, just for love and peace. A good man wanting to share and enjoy life and share his joy, yes, like the hippies of modern times. But like Jesus, the hippies were persecuted and judged for just being themselves. Judged for not wearing a suit and tie, but just living and enjoying themselves with like ones.
Peace again....sure "jerusalem slim" could have been a hippy and he had a trade...carpeter or woodcraft...he was tolerant but, he had guidelines to live his life and he was not too fond of cheats, liars, uppity politicans oh...tax for profit..like late fees, and such....I think Bhudda was a hippy fer sure doe...
