Hey, I got a ticket yesterday to see Paul McCartney at Wrigley Field, August 1st! Still almost hard to sink in. Too good to be true. This guy is a legend. I've read high reviews and seen videos, and he's still got it. He plays 3 hour shows without a break! And his "Electric Arguments" album from 2 or 3 years back is amazing, and even has experimental/ambient/psychedelic tracks. Each song on that album was written and recorded in one day, so that's saying a lot. So, anyway, I'm going alone, and was wondering if any of you guys were going to see him then as well. You can still get tickets here: http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?orgid=22315&pid=7054671 He's also playing July 31st, but I read those sold out in several minutes, so they added August 1st. So get one as soon as possible if you want one. For me, this is a lifetime opportunity considering I'm 18 and how many classic musicians I could never see live.
Wow man, you must have snagged that ticket fast. Ought to be an amazing show regardless which day, though. Any August 1sters?
Aw man, you're so lucky! My friend snagged some for August 1st and I've been calling into radio stations all day trying to score some tickets. I heard it's gonna be one of his last shows, ever. Paul was always my favorite from The Beatles, I hope I can find the money for a ticket, or get lucky with a station! Anyways, have fun when you go, it'll be an amazing experience.
Talk about luck, considering how I got the money. Are you in the suburbs by the way, or the city? Always hoping to find some cool, new people to hang out with. I'm in the suburbs. And it's definitely not one of his last shows ever. Maybe just for this tour. He's working on more music and is bound to tour extensively in the future. He's healthy and has a lot of energy. I hope he lives a long life. In fact, I saw an article about him digging up the machines used for "Tomorrow Never Knows" to do new experimenting with tape loops.
I'm in the burbs, but am moving into the city in this coming fall. Which town are you? Maybe I was misinformed then! That's just what one of my friends told me. That's sick that he's getting out his old gear! I actually just started getting into Paul in the beginning of the summer. I've always been a huge Beatles fanatic but a friend turned me onto Paul; he's wonderful going solo! I've been looking for his album, McCartney, on vinyl, but having no such luck. All record stores around my town are just stocked with Elvis Christmas records and hair bands long forgotten... I'm in love with his song, Junk. It's beautiful... Anyways... I'm getting really side tracked.. Heh...
Eep, I wish I knew how to respond back :? Oh and I have the Anthology discs but I never noticed Junk and Teddy Boy on it! Awesome. I really like the Across The Universe take (Anth2) and the Honey Pie Kinfauns Home Demo (I think it's off 3?). Anyways, sounds like I'll have to look back into those and see what else I'm missin'!
I live a little over a mile from Wrigley which is good avoiding people pucking in my yard & beer cans stuck in my bushes ... go to many shows in Chicago so I get special offers on pre-sales ...
BUMP. I don't think anyone new will answer this thread, but I still thought I might as well BUMP this because the concert is a week away now. And they're STILL selling tickets, believe it or not. It would be cool if someone on here was also going on the 1st and we could meet up. But I'm still going, regardless, and I can't wait for the experience.
I'm going to the McCartney concert at Wrigley this Sunday. Does anybody know if you are aloud to take video of the concert other then shooting with your cell phone.
Sweet man, and cool to see a new member, too. :2thumbsup: There's a difference between being legally allowed to, and people doing it anyway and security not caring. The fine print in my ticket says you're not allowed to transmit any information about the event. Picture, video, audio. That sort of thing. So that's all I know. I've never been to Wrigley Field, so I don't know if they'll actually be strict about it. Personally, I'm not bringing one, but I didn't plan on taking footage, anyway. A shame you're not seeing him Monday, August 1st like I am. I read the tickets sold out for July 31st in only a few minutes, and yet two of the people on these forums happen to be going on that day. Ah well. Hope you enjoy it anyway! Would be cool if I found someone going on my day.
Still surprised that there's tickets left and it hasn't sold out yet. The second night is less than 2 days away now.
He and his band were incredible last night ... one of the best concerts & have ever attended, my wife cried like a baby several times throughout the show. Enjoy
It was incredible beyond belief. And I mean that in every sense of the word, because it's still almost like a dream. It's A LOT to take in. I actually had these really good binoculars that a friend lent me (even though I went by myself), so I was able to see him with my naked eyes. For the price the ticket cost, it was the best seat. Really good position and view. I was in Section 224 9 rows up. One of the songs he played that I read he didn't play Sunday was "Got To Get You Into My Life", which was awesome. I've read that 5 of the songs he played were unique for each night. I also bought the program they were selling which was definitely worth it. It's not a setlist. Instead, it's interviews about the tour and with the band, as well as a history, high-quality photos and stuff like an interview about the new McCartney reissues. The shirts were definitely overpriced, though. I actually cried a bit when he did the tribute for John-"Here Today", including the heartfelt introduction he gave before playing it. It's hard to believe that 3 hours went by. If you're paying such a high price for any other artist, and they play shorter than that, it feels like a rip-off after having experienced Paul. I could go on about the show really, since there's a lot to talk about, but in short it was definitely amazing, and it would have hurt a lot to have missed it. I believe in yesterday ... well it's actually the day before yesterday now. But still....
