Hi all, I'm a massive music fanatic, ok to start my time on these boards, a simple set of 3 questions, tell us 1. Best live band/artist you've seen 2. Which band you wish you'd seen but can't now 3. Which band/artist you want to see I'll kick-off.. 1. Iggy Pop 2. The Doors 3. Queens of the stone age and you?
1 Tie between Wide Spread Panic and Shpongle, hard choice since it's totally different types of music. 2 Grateful Dead 3 Too many to choose from
Salutations,'72. Right;the best BAND I ever saw live were Queen. Absolutely pitch-perfect,and Freddie could REALLY work a stadium into a frenzy. The best ARTIST I ever saw was David Bowie. The man had a magnetism about him when on stage-even solo. I would've liked to see T Rex in their heyday as I knew Marc Bolam at school. Something about the way he wrote stuff just 'jelled' with me. I'd like to see Hugh Lawrie [the actor who plays 'House'] I really like his take on Delta Blues. But,far too many to REALLY knock it down to a short list..
ditto on the Dead, was in Frisco in 1993, they were in town but I didn't know them then.. only got into them later and Jerry died in '95 so would never be the same.. oh well..:afro:
1. this is a tie between the budos band and toubab krewe... if you don't know who they are, check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nrmi-JFMZwg"]this(tk) and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nclSNIamjg"]this(budos) out. also, the links are to show their music, not the live experience 2. james brown or ODB 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9FFe9ozZzM&feature=related"]karnataka college of percussion
1. 311 2. The Doors 3. Queens of the Stone Age .....Going to see A Perfect Circle on the 12th!!! so excited!!!
1. String Cheese Incident 2. If I had to pick just one, it would of course be The Grateful Dead but tied for a close second would be Janis, Jim and Jimi. 3. .... *having a brain fart* ... I'll get back to ya on that one!
1. I'd probably have to say either The Flaming Lips or Bassnectar at this point 2. Led Zepplin or Jimi Hendrix... or Sublime... or Bob Marley (yeah I cheated on this one, sue me ) 3. o.0 Idk, there are a lot from a lot of different genres I'd love to see, including deadmau5, Nicki Minaj, Cake, Phish, Third Eye Blind, etc and so forth lol
here's another possible answer (for me) to the first question: PHISH! can't fathom how i forgot about 'em. Possum from Superball... kickass time!
This is a great thread! 1. Prince - He came to SA for the tour where he did his "hits" for the last time. We paid for nosebleed tickets, and since we bought them on the first day that came out, he moved everyone to his pit...I was three feet from him the entire show and it was magical! 2. Toss up between Led Zeppelin and Parliament Funkadelics (the Mothership Connection tour) 3. Radiohead or Sade
1 Rush 2 Roger waters 3. smashing pumpkins but keep in mind those are the only bands i've seen live in person for me the best live band i would say is ledzepp
Of all the bands i've seen live the ones that sounded, not performed, but sounded the best were. The Beastie Boys The Offspring Cake Korn I've never been a fan of cake but i was very impressed how they were live. Everything was clear with no backdrop album playing going on.
1. Eric Burdon with War, This was his "Spill the Wine" era, I also just saw him with the new Animals and he still has it. He is an over powering stage presence, a commanding voice. 2. The Beatles! Hendix is a close second, then the Doors with Morrison and Janis Joplin with Big Brother, almost saw Joplin but she died right before she was going to appear at a college I was attending. 3. Van Morrison, "Van The Man" need I say more?
I'm also a music fanatic so: 1. Can't possibly choose 2. Deep Purple with Richie Blackmore and Ian Gillan in his heyday. 3. Really, lots of stuff The list is endless!
