The only problem is that i don't have anywhere to do it, seeing as I'm only 17.
This poses another problem. I asked "well what if I just do it in the front yard, that way I can still use the toilet!" But my parents don't like the idea of me out in the front yard at night, in the middle of the city. "Someone could get into the tent!!"
So I suggested a lock, but a pocket knife could just as quickly make a new door.

Anybody got advice? Maybe on securing the tent, or good places to set up camp.
I suggested that my dog come sleep in the tent with me, because she's a boxer and a pretty good guard dog.

p.s. Before anyone says anything about it, I can't do it in my back yard. It's very small and full of dog poop despite picking it up every week. I have two dogs so yeah, they go a lot.

I lived in a tent in the woods one summer. I broght lamps, couch, T.V., and my bed inside. It was awesome being so close to nature. I think the dog is a good idea and if you had a cell phone and some mace it would help.

You can camp on our land, if you have a vehicle & money to get here.

if you tried that here you'd get likely get raped. sorry to be a mood kill, but don't do it alone at least.

a dog would be pretty useless.

a dog would be extremely useful. MUCH more useful than a human partner. considering they can give a hell of a fair warning for predators, and help you find food. a humans senses cant compare to that of an animal.

and youd get raped if your an idiot and camp in the city.... if your in a secluded place youd likely avoid that. i mean the likelyness of that is near zero seeing as most creeps are in major cities. thats an invalid claim.

Maybe you could pick up the dog poop and set up camp in the backyard. Both dogs can hang out in the tent and you can just take them down the street for a walk when they have to go! It'd be much much safer than camping out in the front and your parents would definitely feel better about it.

I was in a tent in our backyard for a good few weeks last year as I gave up my room for some relatives that were staying over. Luckily though we live on acreage and have plenty of yard to do so. That was definitely fun in itself, though being summer in the north of Australia it got pretty bloody horrible and hot, not to mention the middle of the wet season and cyclone season so that caused a lot of dramas.

There's a big difference between living in a tent in your yard compared to the bush somewhere, assuming you're not using the facilities at the house and still preparing your own food and such.

That would be great though! And especially with the boxer, they're a gorgeous dog! :)

Didn't really work out anyway. Heat waves and torrential rain do not a good camp make. Mostly because i'm a big baby, but it was seriously hot all summer :p
So maybe the fall will be a better time.
