I have very red cheeks. The doctor told me that it's just the way I am. I could get them lasered off, but it would cost a lot of money and would cause severe bruising for two weeks after every treatment (5 treatments). Take a look at the picture and let me know whether I should try the laser, or just embrace my red face the way it is. I purposefully took a pic in which I don't look my best - hopefully that'll help me get a realistic answer. Thanks.

How much alcohol do you intake each week and how much water? Dehydration plays a huge role in a lot of skin problems. Even if you drink hardly any alcohol your body still needs a lot of water each day. A lot of people are dehydrated and they don't feel it. If your piss is any shade of yellow, drink more water tell its clear, then maintain that without hurting yourself. Hopefully you can get good water too, not the stuff that comes in plastic at the store.

    Thanks for the replies!

Windy - I was originally diagnosed with rosacea, but that was ruled out after several tests. I was also put on a rosacea treatment called metrogel just to see if it would work, but it did not. The doctor's diagnosis was that I naturally have blood vessels that are close to the surface of my skin.

Broony - I don't drink much alcohol, and this issue has been going on since well before I drank. I don't think I'm dehydrated. I drink plenty of water and my pee is not very yellow.

My question is just how bad does it look? To me it looks terrible, but I want to know what the average person thinks when they see me. Be honest. If it looks terrible to everyone else, I will talk to my doctor about more invasive procedures. Thanks.

This one girl i worked with (she was a waitress) would get very red cheeks like yours when she became stressed, or frantic, even when she started to sweat her cheeks would get red. Im guessing its just her genetics. She has very pale irish looking skin. She sunburns very easily.

I don't know what to tell you because im not a doctor..but.. have you always had this cheek problem? Or did it just decide to show up one day?

Have you noticed things you eat, or if you exercise, if your depressed, sleeping patterns, does anything change its color? Honestly i think something MUST have an effect, you just gotta find it.

EVERYTHING we put into our body does something, you might have to find a natural way somehow. It might get better buts its hard to say since i don't know how long yo've had this problem, or your daily schedule with eating, sleeping, ect ect. When im stressed and am not sleeping well the skin around my eyes turns purple, almost as if i was punched in the eyes.

We all react to different things, some people though are born with problems such as yours. Its hard to say though.

My friend owns a pagan store and he sells unrefined shea butter there. Always sings its praise and claims it helps with all kinds of skin issues. You have to get the unrefined stuff though, as the refined crap you get at walmart has removed most of the helpful properties in it. I would give it a shot. If you have trouble finding it let me know.

Honestly I don't think it looks bad at all. But it's how YOU feel about it that is important. The Shea butter is worth a try and probably inexpensive. Personally, I think you should embrace the face!
