hi everyone i have a q : since we hate logos and tags on chlothes, how do we avoid supporting fucked up society? how do you buy shampoos and soaps? do you buy name brands? or avoid them like crazy ? do you only buy generic brands? or do you only buy dollar store brands ? or do you buy in bulk at a member club store? as to support society as little as possible?thanks you very much :0) have a great day peace:sunny:
My priority is to have stuff that's not tested on animals. I will also try to get organic if I can afford it. I'm not worried about labels, I don't hate them per se, but I don't go out of my way to get a specific label unless it is a known ethical company. Stuff like lip balm I make myself.
come on guys? how do i avoid supporting the man? please help me stop supporting the evil society shit.
No simple amswer here. You can't completely avoid it unless you move out into the country and make absolutely everything you consume yourself. So decide what your priorities are, and start with those. Is it animal testing? Artificial ingredients, ecological considerations, nature of the corporation that makes what you buy, etc. As you educate yourself more, you can choose even more wisely. The fact that you're thinking in this direction already shows you'll probably stay on the right track-- you've got the eyes open which is what we all need to have.
you can start by making your own clothes and buying handmade goods go to your local farmer's market. you can find soaps and things there. learn to make your own detergents and buy things locally when you can. that helps!
I try to buy soap thats made locally from specialty shops. I also make my own bath products...this website has some great recipes: http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com/ Some bath products are really simple to make and you probably already have the ingredients. Mix sugar with oil (any oil will do, I use olive oil), put in a couple of drops of essential oil for scent, and you've got a great body scrub. Hair rinses are really easy to make too. I always boil green tea and an assortment of fresh herbs (lavender is awesome), and use it as a hair rinse. You can mix it with baby powder or corn starch to make a dry shampoo. Its really not that time consuming or expensive to make your own bath products, and its amazing how aware of chemicals you become after you stop using chemicals. If you don't have the time or energy to do all that, just research the companies you buy from.
