Lots of people do not think that athletes should get payed as much as they do. I think they deserve all that money because very few people on this earth can perform a sport at that level and people forget how much training and determination and focus it takes to be playing a sport on that high of a level. anyone can flip burger or dig holes but few people can do what top level athletes do. I think some professional athletes should get payed more. especially mma fighters. anyone who gets in a cage and fights for entertainment deserves lots of money. if athletes did not get lots of money I think it would be sad to know that someone with so much skill is not being rewarded. and other than athletes I like that also the best creative people get rewarded too. the best musicians, the best writers, the best animators, the best artist, the best video game makers. anyone with a creative mind that can create stuff and think of stuff beyond what the normal human population does. so my point is that anyone that has a talent that is extremely beyond what most humans can do should be rewarded.
football is very risky. some guys have been seriously injured being tackled. think about guys that get tackled and get a spinal injury that prevents them from moving anything waist down the rest of their life. I was at a football game non professional where a kid got tackled and landed wrong and his whole leg bone was sticking out of his skin.
okay, my bad - cultural difference i am referring to soccer. these guys, in actual fact, barely get touched and fall around like a bunch of pansies. further, they then spend two years of that three year contract on the bench. they still get paid. if a sports dangerousness is the issue, then shouldn't this cash go towards compensation in case the injury does occur?
when guys say futbol then I know they mean soccer but when they say football I usually think it means american football. I still think soccer players deserve good money. but I think the sports players that should get the most of people in 1 on 1 type sports or 2 on 2. such as tennis, golf, mma, boxing, and other ones I forgot. but the tactical ability of top level soccer players is amazing. and how good their aim is at passing the ball so fast under pressure perfectly. I am a athlete myself and I know how much focus it takes to compete with such perfection. oh yeah and I forgot to add that professional video game players is now a sport and some people get big money from it . unreal tournament and counter strike top teams can make some good money for wining some tournament. I think that people who have that much focus and dedication to training and perfecting themselves deserve all that money because they have the discipline to learn and master what they do.
What I think doesn't matter nor will it change the scheme of things but to see that kind of money pissed away on sports players totally pisses me off. What do the best teachers get paid? Or the best of nurses, or other care providers, people who contribute to the well being and strength of other people. Educators are the most under valued people in our society yet have the greatest responsibility. They nurture our future, guide and shape kids lives. I'd a helluva lot rather see teachers get a good living wage than to see money pissed away on someone who does a good job playing with his balls.
...some people used to think the world was flat no'm sayin' [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoWnIhDuW4g
being a teacher is not that hard of a job. that job is so chill. plus think of how much time off you get compared to other jobs. being teacher is something I might do in the future. what makes me mad though is that olympic wrestlers never really get paid anything. and being that good of a wrestler is so hard. while top swimmers and sprinters always get plenty of people wanting their face on cereal boxes for money.
I think we should take all the money and all the contracts and throw them in a fire to rid of it all. Then we will see how many people are worth it, and who sticks around "for the love of the game". Hell we might even get in a lot of new athletes who want to play the sport for the love of it, but couldn't get drafted before because of physical status.
Dude..... there just aren't words to convey how stupid that remark is. But I guess you are just a product of the budget cuts and poor recognition teachers and education as a whole get in this country anymore. Keep making such asinine remarks and you will further solidify yarapario's post.
What private organizations do with their money is of no concern to those who aren't part of that organization. Bringing up other professions is not only ignorant, but it also shows how little you have actually learned from such "valuable educators." What a shame.
Your comment is valid within the confines of a discussion comparing the use of funds within an organization, but that is not what this thread is about. It's about the comparison of the intrinsic value of different professions as evidenced by the monetary recompense those in that profession receive. Thereby making comparisons between the intrinsic value of educators and entertainers valid for this discussion. So what is on the table here is a comparison between the worth society at large has placed upon the two different fields. Educators provide a service of a more intrinsic, longer lasting value, that is something the majority of society would agree on, yet we hold entertainment as being more worthy of actually getting our dollars. Bottom line, most people will complain and lament about how poor the educational system is today, yet would rather spend their money on season tickets rather than purchase classroom supplies for a local school. So there is a great disparity between where people at large say the money should go and where they actually spend it.
