They are called the Angels of Death. Its after these gun ships fire an onslaught of flares or rockets.. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOx_wHhitqk looks pretty when its not killing people. Sad fact: 9 times out of 10, your only going to see that when it is killing people ...
Interesting...certainly hope I never have to see that! Funny that it makes an angel wing pattern, angels being pretty much the furthest thing that would be associated with this kind of testing.
I thought those were from missile defense decoys....heat seeker false signals they sure dont look like bombs or missiles used to attack anyone
Making warfare pretty?... interesting. .... then again I find the atomic bomb explosions beautiful. "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one"
why would they use one and not the other? While these flare can only cook a bird this high up.. they are used along with other weaponry.. It can however make low sweeps, and use flares when dropping cargo in a hot spot. If said hostile is around cargo drop.. Baked chicken anyone??
The flares are simply ordinary decoy flares to defend against heat-seeking missiles. The smoke pattern is caused by wing-tip vortices. All aircraft leave these vortices behind the wingtips, but they are normally invisible unless there is high humidity in the air. The smoke simply makes them visible.
