    Not a fact.

I see our push into human form as an attempt to reach immortality.

The suns are mortal, the planets are mortal, the moons, the animals, everything is mortal.

We as an entire human species I see as being the push of natural processes to develop something that is truly immortal. If we become an interstellar species, we are an immortal species.

As it stands today, all technology and the men who create it have no morality. And if you don't have a moral question in your governing process. You don't have a process that's going to survive.

So I'll ask you some moral questions,

    1. Why must we search for interstellar travel when there are thousands of children that are tonight going to die from hunger?
    2. Why must we waste the resources on sending rockets to the moon when it is the same technology that will be used to bomb on innocent people?
    3. Why do we worry about better communication satellites to talk people on the other side of the world, when we can not teach men to talk to their wives and thereby stop domestic abuse?
    4. Why are we searching for water on the moon and on Mars when our lakes, streams and rivers are poisoned?
Why do you want to be immortal and what makes you believe that if scientists discover a way to bestow immortality, that you will be one of the people chosen to become immortal?

I will tell you what I know to be fact,
That is that you will probably never see these new worlds and you will probably never have immortality bestowed upon you. But you might one day be a parent and will be able to see in your child's eyes the future. And thereby given a chance to shape the future by the love you give that child and the things you teach him.

    Or... is it?

Think about this for a moment,

We could theoretically move the entire earth in times of catastrophic instances such as our sun becoming a red Giant, moving it to another star and continuing life on our little blue ball.

Most of the energy on the earth isn't from the earth, but instead from solar radiation!

The way I see it, the road to developing interstellar travel is intertwined with the correction of all these issues.

If we are to be succesfull at interstellar travel we need to develop some sort of robotic, automated, self-contained, self-sustaining aquaponics system that will be able to grow food indefinanetly with little or no maintenance. Such a system is also the only way I see world hunger ever being corrected. I mean you can say lets lobby the government and amass funding from grassroots to send food to third world countries but this seems like such a never ending struggle to me. The way I see it, technology has continually released man from the difficulty of tasks needed for survival and at some point I foresee technology completely releasing all of man from the struggle of needing to find food. If such a fully automated aquaponics system could be made you would just build one and it would feed a mass of people indefinanetly with just a few people maintnencing it.

As for rockets, I think interstellar travel requires us to get a grip on anti gravity technologies and zero point energy. Which of course could still be used for weapons. But really I think this point is silly. Why make airplanes when someone could fly them into a building? Why make the internet when it feeds child pornography industries? Just because a new technology can help people harm each other does not mean its development should be slowed, this kind of mentality would keep us living as primitive tribes. Of course the danger exists for misuse of new technology, but I also see the advancement of technology to also be the primary force behind the unification of all mankind. Release people from the struggle of needing food and interconnect everyone around the world via the internet and cheap portable devices, this would do more for world peace than Ghandi ever did.

As for dysfunctional relationships. I don't know? But I know alot of relationships become dysfunctional because of money struggles. If people didn't have to worry about struggling to feed themselves and house themselves, there would be alot less to get pissed off at each other about. Both those things can be alleviated by technological advancement. Fully automated mass aquaponics systems to free us from food struggles. Then perhaps the advancement of 3D printing technology using soy or corn based epoxies and I could foresee a point when we could just park a big truck on a piece of land and literally 3D print a structure right there onto it for people to live in. I really do see humanity progressing to a point where someday every single one of our needs are taken care of by robotic devices and we will really do nothing but live like gods with everything automatically taken care of for us, and everything completely free.

Pollution will also be reduced as technology advances. One could say a mass amount of pollution is due to technology currently. But technology is not going anywhere, getting rid of technology or slowing it is not a solution to pollution. At least people at the forefront of technology have recognized the need to stop the pollution technology produces. Every major car company has an electric vehicle, Honda has a functioning, in use fuel cell car. Each new release of Apple's product, more percentage of the product is recyclable. Many companies are actively seeking new energy sources. There are new manufacturing processes that produce no waste. New synthetic materials that are fully biodegradable.

You misunderstand me, I, as in me here, this ego, this body does not want to be immortal and cannot be immortal. But the human species as a whole, the human genetic code and DNA can be immortal if it's survival does not depend on the mortal earth. I do not see scientists 'bestowing' immortality to individuals, rather I use the word to refer to the point when the human species as a whole has the opportunity to continue on indefinanetly and has no reliance on finite planets. The human species as a whole would essentially be immortal at that point. We could evolve forever, with no end, our survival would be dependent only on ourselves.

You should contact the Jacques Fresco because you appear to share his vision.

But I caution you to never forget that there are 2 types of visions in this universe.
    1) Looking Forwards
    2) Looking Backwards

Looking forward is without a doubt exciting because you never know what you're going to find when your reach your destination. But just like it's a good idea to regularly look in the rear view mirror, it's a good idea to examine history to understand where you've been and how you got there.

Sadly, those who forget history are doomed to relive it.

And mankind's history has been written more by arrogance and greed than by altruism. To this extent I don't share your vision. Because the scientists and the men paying for this technology are just as arrogant and greedy as their ancestors.

Therefore if I wrote a history book based on what I've seen in my life, I would have to give it a very long title.

From Nixon to Bush jr. - 8 Tracks to MP3s
Vietnam to Afghanistan/Iraq - Atomic bombs to Depleted Uranium and how the human race traded Freedom and Love for Facebook pages and Ipads.

The only demon that's left in Pandora's box is hopelessness. As a grandfather that loves his family dearly, I advocate we leave it in there and not try and build a Star Trek teleporter to beam it out.

Sure, the Earth is finite; or to be more specific, the sun has a lifetime. It is predicted to expand into a red giant in 5-10bn years, and the Earth will probably be uninhabitable some time before that.

Homo sapiens have been around for about 100,000 years. The first "humans" evolved between 3 and 8 million years ago. And our technological advances in the past 1000, or even 100 years, have been exponential, and continue to be so.

So, yes, you're right, if we want to survive long term we will need to get off this planet. But for a species to stay around for so long is highly unlikely, and even if we managed not to get wiped out... we have plenty of time to develop the appropriate technology. So why put so much effort into mastering interstellar travel when we don't even master our own planet, let alone our own solar system.

We have a perfectly usable world right here, and if we really cared about our survival, we would ensure it stayed usable. There are plenty of concerns that require our immediate attention, that will leave our world, its environment and ecosystems, damaged beyond repair, unless addressed.

I won't go on about how much we're screwing up for ourselves, but if we want to have any hope of reaching the stars we first need to clean up our act and our home.

One day i hope humanity will be able to coexist, its essential for out planet to continue on in evolution and the survival of or own existence. Awesome ideas.

Some people were fucked up in the past, so lets all call it quits and enjoy what little time we have left?

If you don't have faith in the human races ability to grow itself into ever greater states of awareness, than what is the point of even being here? I mean this very seriously. In order to get myself out of a deep depression I once fell into, I basically had to realize that culture, society and civilization is inherently self-healing, and all we need to do is help push it along, and just by the nature of what it is, it will evolve itself into a greater manifestation that more clearly represents and allows the uninhibited expression of the collective human soul.

Humans don't need to be around forever. We aren't all that special. We just think we are. Having a huge ego can be fun, but the truth is that the universe would be quite fine if none of us had ever lived. The earth would be much cleaner if there had never been any humans around, and many more species of animals would be alive. But someday all of them would become extinct anyway, as the sun reaches the end of its life.

Umm...because we were born? Life doesn't require any other reason.

Thank you for saying it so I didn't have to! We're just another species of animal, just like everything else, and when we've run our course, we'll die out, just like everything else. We are not special, we are just specks in an infinite universe of universes. There's so much more to...everything than just human existence, and I think every human could take a dose of humility and realize we are just dust specks in the reality of it all.

@OP ...you are thinking of FALLACY!

What's with the tone: MAN IS BAD!!! ? Who taught you this? I know already. Turn off the tv brother and get connected to truth. Man will not become GOD. Man will not live forever. Science is not our saving grace.

We did not evolve. We will not leave this earth to live elsewhere. Man is wicked, but not out of place here on this rock.

What do I think of your idea ? I think you are safely placed...exactly where NWO agenda wants you to fit. And you think it's good! I think you are not wise!

ARGH! Reading these replies makes me angry. You are not an animal to be managed and told how to live like catttle...yet that is how it is increasingly becoming! ANd you all agree? Sick.

    WAKE THE F UP

    COME AT ME BRO

I think we need to be able to build some better spaceships before we completely desert the idea of living in perfect harmony with mother earth.

I'm all for space travel as well though, so maybe we could do both.

    Is that possible?

humans are just a small pest on this huge planet. Earth took its time to wipe out dinosaurs when their time was up...I have no doubt in my mind that it will do the same to humans when our time is up. We are nothing to this planet...just greedy, selfish, resource-hungry pests that are using up all of what Earth has to offer. Earth is toying with us right now...major storms, global warming, climate problems, whatever you wanna call it...someday, she will unleash her fury and we will be gone as quickly as we appeared...

The earth is finite you say?

Here's a question for you. If you were to drawn a line round the edge of any island, how long would it be?

The answer to that lies in chaos theory. There is in fact no finite answer and it technically depends how precisely you take the measurement. If you were to measure it to the smallest atom or particle (where the land ends and the sea starts) it would tend to infinity, or it would be finite but much larger than you think.

Uhm, are you just kidding or do you really think earth has a consciousness? Technically it wasn't earth that wiped the dinosaurs out either. Anyway, I also think travelling into space sounds awesome but we as a species will probably remain on this planet and die. Does not discomfort me at all happily. I'm gonna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames!

We humans don't require much to have a really great super and awesome life. It basically comes down to 3 things.

    1) Clean food and water
    2) A clean warm place to live with toilet facilites.
    3) Someone to hold and talk to. (Ie: Love)

When you have those 3 things everything else is just icing on the cake.

The problems we are facing today is that we have allowed ourselves to loose track of what is really needed/important in life. It's compounded by the fact that we have a group of some very sick and angry people with too much power. And added to them: we also have 2 different groups of very delusional people.

    The 1st group,
I remember when we used to laugh about someone living in their parent's basement. But have you ever thought that because of the Internet how numerous the people of this group have become? These guys sit all day and fantasize about things like Star Trek, meeting aliens and being able to become super heros in some sort of computer generated reality.

Just like the men of the 60s and 70s that had stacks of porn magazines but could never talk to a real woman. So this first group reads mountains of science fiction and has no clue how to live in the real world.

I suspect that Mr. RyGoody belongs to this group.

    The 2nd group,
Are just people trying to live their lives and make a dollar. They know what's going on but they don't want to think about it. And in the end they find it easier to just buy into the lies than take action against them. Because like all of us here, all they want is just to live indoors, eat a good meal and have someone love them.
