I just saw this movie last week and loved it. The ending pissed me off though. What are your thoughts on this movie?
    What are your favorite scene?

dennis hopper is a brilliant director, and made a very visually appealing film... my favorite scenes are definitely the campfire scenes with Jack N. or any riding scenes

FYI: the scene where theyre in the diner in texas and they're getting stared down by all of the insane texans, most of them were real people... not actors
AND... the filmakers and actors when making the film did go across country, and when they got to the border of texas they got scared and turned back.. lol

Easy Rider is my all time favorite movie. BUT- when I watch it now, I usually only watch it up to the point where they go in the diner. Once in a while I'll watch the whole thing just 'cause it's hard to say it's your favorite movie when you only watch half of it. haha.
My favorite scenes are both campfire scenes and the dinner at the farm scene. I love all the songs in the movie too. It's an awesome soundtrack. Wonderful visuals, great actors (LOVE Peter Fonda), and an altogether great movie.

It's interesting that you were upset with the ending because, when I first saw it, I was pretty pissed too. But I watched it again... and again... and the more I watched it, the more I discovered something: would any other ending be more fitting with what came before it?

The point that Hopper and Fonda were trying to get across was the placement of the counterculture, at that time, in the South. The whole country was burning up. I mean, look at Captain America's bike! The bike, being covered with stars and stripes with money stuffed in the tank, is America. Any moment that they can be shot at with one explosion... BOOM! It's the end.

By the way, did you know that Hopper originially wanted Captain America and Billy the Kid to ride, so to speak, into the sunset, just like John Wayne? Interesting. Which ending would've been better? I, personally, like the one we have. Especially with the helicopter shot at the end panning back to reveal the river on the left, flowing onward. Very symbolic.

Oh, and my favorite scene was the last campfire. "We blew it." Simple yet effective.

    Peace.

The ending was the only part I really liked. I didn't mean that like I couldn't wait for the movie to end but, I mean that to me the movie was kinda pointless and not boring but... lifeless (you know those movies you can watch and it was good but it wasn't GOOD) until the end. I mean it was not a conventional ending and I really have to credit Dennis Hopper & (who was it) Peter Fonda? for using such a daring ending. It was what gave the movie it's signature (& heartbeat) they lived as free spirits and died as free spirits.
Did you know they were originally going to call it The Loners, I think that alone (no pun intended) would have killed the movie for me. What a horrible name!

Admittedly I did not like this movie when I first saw it. Then after a few viewings it is now one of my faves. I bought it about a month ago on video(too poor to afford dvds). Great soundtrack too.

It wouldn't have been the same movie if they had gone with the "John Wayne" ending. The ending was perfect, even though I couldn't help but shout (in my head), "No! Turn around! Go the other way, you dipshit, TURN AROUND!"
The "We Blew It" scene was a really good scene.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Never been more pissed off at the end of a movie though, but I think it showed how it really was.

Liked the playing of Little Wing as they crossed the bridge, but my favorite moment was when Peter told the farmer "You must be proud". Just loved that.

My cousin had a poster up of the american flag bike. Brings back good times, that memory!

I actually bought the DVD of the movie without actually having seen it. Great, great film. My favorite scene of the movie is the diner scene.

I loved the scene where Jack explains to Hopper why Americans are so scared of people who are truly free. I can't not say "Right on!" when I see that.
