I knew they wouldn't find her guilty. All they really had going for them was the duct tape. If I was a juror I would have ruled not guilty as well. I honestly don't know what REALLY happened. I know Casey was responsible in SOME way for the kid's death, but I really don't think it was mal-intended homicide, perhaps just gross negligence and a terrible cover-up. BUT, that is not what was being charge- first degree murder was. Percs and Vics (I think you are joking, but perhaps not...maybe a new member will read this and learn some comparative pharmacology haha) are around the same strength depending on the formula. As you know, Oxycodone (in Percs) is about 75% stronger than Hydrocodone (Vics). They each come in compounds ranging from 2.5mg to 10mg of the active ingredient. So a 5mg Vic ~ 2.5mg Perc. But a 10mg Perc ~ 15-20mg Vic (which doesn't exist- the highest Vic dose is 10mg, so you would need two Vic pills to equal one of the 10mg Percs). Why am I writing all of this? I have no idea. Could it have to do with the massive line of Methylphenidate (Ritalin) that I just railed? Possibly...
I also wonder that as well. It seemed pretty obvious she was AT LEAST guilty of that. Does anyone know why?
On Wikipedia they are quoted as saying that they were charging that when they assumed the child was alive, and that they were pursuing the most fitting charges, or something like that. I think it may have been cockiness, or a gamble to try to get the jury to focus on the more major charges.
Yeah, the prosecution gave off a strong vibe of cockiness IMO, both the silver-haired man and the blonde woman. I think they should have looked at it more objectively and should have not been as arrogant. I think Jose Baez (or whatever his name was) did a MUCH better job at relating to the jury on a personal level. He repeatedly admitted that the Anthony family was fucked up and that Casey was essentially a loser, BUT he reminded them of the circumstantial nature of the case, AND that the charge was for MURDER ONE, not gross negligence.
