I was in Australia for a couple of weeks last Nov and loved it. I stayed in the Margaret Rivet area. My darling bf stayed for four months, traveling to Sydney out to WA across the GCR to Uluru and back down to Sydney. The country is beautiful (absolutely beautiful), the people friendly. Would go back in a heartbeat. The only thing is watch your cash flow. When he was there the US dollar sometimes was less than the AUS dollar and depending how long you are staying, cash may not go as far. I heard you can find under the table work though. I felt gas and groceries were more expensive but their minimum wage is higher. Enjoy! Wish we were heading back there!

The Australian government hates immigrants keeps them for years whilst processsing the claim in the desert in these horrible detention centres.

Aboriginals have lost their identity, land and culture due to the"Westernization" of Australia.

The Australian govt is striving to ''Americanize'' Australia with the blessing of the US govt.

Glen your thoughts please !!!!!! :)

And don't have antlers. I'd still be pretty excited to almost hit a kangaroo...or be hit by a kangaroo. I'm sure after a few new cars, it would lose its novelty. Haha.

Suger, you'll have to remain active at the forums while you are visiting Australia so that I can be a dick to you the whole time because you're in the sunny happy weather and I'll no doubt be cold and arthritic. lol

Depends on what you're looking for DS.

Here in Australia, there is a term that is coined as a 'bogan'.

Essentially, it's the stereotype for your typical Australian male, but in some cases, it can also apply to women - more men though.

I dont think that is the case anymore, the US economy is kinda going down the toilet. China pays the bills now.

Min adult wage is something like $12/hr, but if prepared to do regional work and have a trade, thats where the money is, especially mining or transport.

Thats assuming you can get more than a holiday visa. The government attitude is basically you want a visa and arent skilled, well then get fucked. Australia is also bureaucratic beyond the ridiculous

Surfing - Kirra (SE Queensland) is probably the best break in the world, its ridiculous, and I've seen it when its working properly, the barrel goes on for like 3 kms. Torquay down near Melbourne is also kind of ridiculous, theres a break every couple 100 metres over a 10 km stretch. And Byron / Nimbin is a must for hippy surfers, a few cool breaks around, then its hippy pot smoking acid dropping central at night

But unless its for the beaches or some kind of tree hugging holiday, you are a dazzling urbanite such as myself, then Sydney or Melbourne are the only places to bother with - everywhere else everyone is too backward
