Has anyone else had an over-abundance of these this year? Fleas, ticks and ants! In particular, the ants are worse this year here - they aren't even making mounds you can just walk around and avoid...suddenly they are tearing your ass up...well, your feet or lower legs. Already this year, I've gone through a round of antibiotics prescribed to me for Lyme disease, seeing at that time I had only picked off 6 and literally had a small (but discernable) rash around one of the bites. I probably need another round of antibiotics since I've picked off about 8 more ticks, and some in unmentionable places. ALL of the animals are treated with PetArmour! (its comparable to Frontline, but available at Wal-Mart) Some have both the Petarmour AND a damn flea collar. (That is basically determined by how persistent they are in getting the collar off.) I recently invested in a flea comb (can anybody say godawful work?). I've been actually vacuuming (more than usual) ... What do y'all do?
I live in the north of England and the weather has been quite cold apart from the last week, so I'm thinking that's probably kept the little blighters down. Can't abide ticks and fleas. Few years back us, and just about everyone we know with pets, had an infestation of fleas. Tried everything to get rid, vacuuming and steaming all rooms daily and we put bowls of hot water with a few drops of citronella in each room then watched the fleas leap into them. Weird! My daughter and I were practically eaten alive, never want to experience that again. The fleas just gradually disappeared.
I treat my lawn with this granule Insecticide.. About 2 bag a yr.. I dont even put a flea collar on my dog and hes a white husky.. / This controls it very well..
