I've been vegetarian for quite a while, and about a week ago decided to go vegan. I'm fairly busy right now with moving and the like, but I decided, what the hell? New house, new habits.
Anyway, I can't seem to stay full, regardless of the amount of vegetables/nuts/grains/fruit I eat... does anyone have any tips?

how is it possible you're in portland and have nothing to eat?

    read more cookbooks..

    cook more..

look up recipes online and try them

    experiment

find places that serve veggie foods and go there

Haha, Portland is the easiest place to be vegan, I'm just broke and busy!
Soup has helped... Also cereal with soy milk. But I'm trying not to overindulge on the soy.

Too much soy isn't good. Although I find fried tofu can be quite a filling meal with salad and rice.

I make a pot of soup 1-2 times a week so I have home made soup every day. I'm really lucky to have a kitchen all to myself at the moment so I can make good use of it.

I like to make broth. It's surprisingly easy really, most of the time is waiting. Nice and thick with lentils and pulses, barley, marrow fat peas, butter beans and all that. I find it very filling.

loads of soups (I lived on miso for months at a time). something with fat.
Also, it is hard to drink enough when it is coolish and humid, compared to dry climates. Often drinking fluids will fill you up. our thirst mechanism is weak and often is read as hunger.

add snacks to keep food in your stomach.
And make garlic bread with plenty of olive oil. Serve with soup!

    Mmmm garlic bread...
I've been trying to eat more nuts for snacks, those seem to help, at least the ones with a high fat content... I'll look up some soup recipes! Thanks for the tips guys :)

    Making soup is effortless.

Here's what I do to make broth.

Soak broth mix in water for at least 8 hours. Drain water off and add more. Bring to the boil. While you are waiting for it to boil fry a couple of sweet onions in oil until soft, but don't burn them. Add to the soup with salt, stock and crushed black pepper and simmer.

Peel and dice potatoes, carrots and parnsips, then add to the soup with some red lentils.

Leave it to simmer for a further 30 mins to an hour.

    Easy peasy.
