i made some damn good lentil burgers yesterday. the recipe is easy: lentils veggies Bragg's http://www.bragg.com/ (talking website.. it scared me!) spices flour one cup of dried lentils and enough water to cover it by 2 inches. simmer this on the stove for 30-35 minutes. meanwhile, cut up veggies to go into a large mixing bowl. i only used carrots and some garlic, both minced, i think a lot of different veggies could work here. spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, chilies, corn, kale or cooked quinoa ( http://www.cookingquinoa.net/how-to-cook-quinoa-perfectly/ ) add to this your spices. i used Bragg's, cumin and chili powder. after the lentils were cooked i drained off the water then added them to the veggie mixture. stir well and mash the lentils a bit. it's gonna be HOT! add a handful of flour at a time until the mixture is like peanut butter like. now comes the fun part! in a frying pan put about two tablespoons of oil over medium heat. scoop out the lentil mixture and press into patties with a spoon. fry for about 10 minutes on each side. put patties on a cookie sheet in an oven on low heat until all are done. eat it like you would a veggie burger!
I didn't see the part where you said it was a talking website and my speakers were almost all they way up...now I have to change my pants
holy moly! sooo good! (lemme know if i missed a step or something with this recipe) i need to write i on paper too.
Sounds like an awesome recipe- I prefer making my own veggie burgers as the store bought ones in my area can be overpriced, and by making them, I know exactly what's going in. Lentils are so economical, healthy and versatile too. Thanks for sharing, I know what I'm having for lunch.
Replace the flour with oats and you have what I feed my dogs! ha Me and the boys often have a really similar dinner
