How do you define a successful man? Is he wealthy, happy, goal oriented or perhaps, something entirely different?

Perhaps, there is no success, only temporary victories in the short struggle of life.

A successful man is a happy man.

Of course there is no success. The idea of success only perpetuates the human need for permanency. The constant need for "happiness" is the worst facet of this.

A true measure of success is one's level of comfort with themselves.

    i think so too, but...
i think of success more as having an ambition that keeps driving you forward, but you are happy with it...

and also doing what you set out to do.
i think most of my success is satisfaction with short-term projects.
for me success is in immediate goals, but i don't think of the future easily or often...!
for some people success is a long term thing.

It's subjective. If you are doing what you want to be doing, happy with your lot in life, I consider that success.

Success is eliminating all goals and becoming totally divorced from the influence of history and society so you become your own unique man/woman, as you were meant to be

A balanced mind in an unbalanced world, OR is it a balanced world to understand for the unbalanced mind in ya'?

To be successful in an unbalanced World is to be like Krishnamurtri. He looked rather healthy to me as well.

He was an optimist, wasn't he? He knew of success which the balanced World had in store. Understanding was more difficult for the Optimism.

Aaaa...ah. An unbalanced mind cannot understand a balanced world. But someone else did. That is pessimism.

If you want my personal opinion.

Success is achieving a goal. No goal, no success. Success is more of an abstract feeling. A word that people use on you to make you feel less than you are, so you become more productive.

Set the expectations low for yourself. No room for disappointment that way.

my definition of success would be if at my death I owed no one anything

that means money/work/etc......but more importantly I don't want to owe any apologies.
