so i was thinking... if you take a look at the amount of people that browse this site regularly, as well as other psychedelic-related forums, even though the number is pretty significant, it doesn't really seem like it accounts for a very large portion of people that use psychedelics. if you consider how many people dose up at shows, all the time, and the number of people that are just going to get lsd from various dealers and do it in private, the amount of people that actually use online forums to get information about those drugs is very small. so how many people out there that are using psychedelics are actually fully informed about them and the proper use of set and setting? or even, aware of their potential as an entheogenic tool? and not just to get fucked up.
Desos, nice to see you... I agree with Writer too. 10-15% at most. Stories of "friends who just wanna lay around and watch movies," or are the fuck-up kids who overdo-it and do it in bad situations... there's a reason you hear about it all the time. At this point in my life, I really feel I won't have too many more issues with "trippin' balls." (Though I might be underestimating Lucy as it's been a while :love Know yourself, plan ahead, figure out the small finite details, ya?
Great question you can read my mind.................:smilielol5: You could have also asked how many read about it on the friggin net ..........???????????
Too few people are informed about drugs they are cramming into their bodies daily, not just psychedelics. But, I think the informed population on psychedelics makes only 10% as well. I have way too many friends that talk as if they know all about the drugs they are taking, and know the exact sources. Also, alot of people just trip to trip, and that is fucking stupid. Too many fuckers think they are all knowing chemists putting stupid ass chemicals into their receptors......fucking morons...
Judging by the number of responses, no that many. But as the above quote implies, you are basing your estimation on how many people actually read the mentioned forums and beyond that how many participate. But from personal experience and from forum input, it is a rather abysmal portion of the population. Sadly lots of people still base their ideas and impressions concerning psychedelics on outdated concepts, urban myth, and just plain misinformation. I can forgive a lot of it, except for those who ask a plethora of questions in the forums rather than spending some of that time pounding on a keyboard researching the topic. A Google search of LSD yields 56,500,000 (thats 56.5 million) results so it ain't that hard to find information. Granted 56,450,000 may just be more BS, but the facts and real information exists, you just gotta put in a little effort. Desos, long time no type. How are things going little brother? You still composing music to save the world and shit?
Yeah, probably not too many. A lot of people try psychedelics, especially mushrooms, as they wander through this part of the world, and of the ones I've spoken with, and tripped with, I doubt any had done any research. Though I must admit, I only started researching the psychedelics and really started to discover and understand drugs after my first trip. I was initially extremely skeptical, had not at all intended to try them, but was told by this chick that I had to try the mushrooms.. It was also her first time, but she was already tripping. Turned out to be possibly the best decision of my life.
Jimmy. You are correct on the decision to just try it. Somethings people have the "just try it once mentality" and it works out great and leads to many other extraordinary times. But those people that continue to be ignorant, that really damages alot of the perception around the drugs.
To me a crucial part of this is consumption and i dont mean once i mean at least 25 times.................... How could i describe the taste and consistency of an orange if i had never eaten one..............
Oh definitely, especially when it comes to sex and psychedelics, if you ain't done it, you don't have a clue. THOSE are the ones I'm referring too. Those that have tried it, yet choose to hold on to bullshit info and myths rather than investigating it for themselves. Willfull ignorance. When I was young and tried LSD for my first time, I knew a fair bit about it, and there was no WWW to search out the info. I had to actually seek out books about it. But it does warrant research beyond just ones subjective experiences. What was it Timothy Leary said? "LSD causes paranioa and panic attacks in those who have never tried it" or something along those lines.
yea good to see you too. one of these days i'm going to reach through the monitor and slap you. yea something like that... 'lsd causes psychotic behavior in those who have never taken it.' i agree that even aside from personal experiences reading stuff on the subject is useful, and can help to deepen one's experience. personal experience is an important part too, though. i suppose that over time eventually someone could see a totally different side of the drug. how exactly this happens i have no idea though.
Yeah most people are uninformed. The majority takes acid to get fucked up, they don't understand that it's not about that.
Your picture in your sig is sick, what is that? People that use psychedelics regularly seem to be more informed than just a casual user. A lot of the people ive tripped with did so because they were there when a few of us were taking it, so I think they take up a large percentage of actual psychedelic users, so most people are definitely not informed about it.
are you talking to me fisticuffs? it's terrapin station. yea i dunno i guess the percentage of informed psychedelic users is just a reflection of the percentage of people that actually give two shits.
The problem seems to be that too many people want instant gratification...which means drop now, ask questions later Stupid people in my opinion. Watched a hisotry channel documentary the other night and was reminded that a long time ago, not everyone was allowed to take psychs...only those who were deemed worthy. I'm not saying that people should stop taking them, but I am saying that we need to get back to our roots in terms of respect and awe for these awesome powers.
