I haven't done mushies, yet, but I dig psychedelic music a lot and would love to listen to these on them.

Can't go wrong with "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" by Pink Floyd. Way different than their other stuff and really psychedelic. Make sure you get the mono version, though, because the stereo was a quick thing done by the label without the band. The mono has a lot more overdubs and effects on it and is a real masterpiece. Whether you look for the 2 or 3 disc set, it's on the first disc.

Pink Floyd's "A Saucerful of Secrets" has some amazing stuff, too. Not as flawless as Piper, and Syd Barrett's not much on the album, but a lot of it is just as good. No worries about a mono or stereo version on this one, though. Just get the latest remaster.

Also, not completely rock, but trust me-"Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis. It's from 1970. Really out there avant-garde jazz fusion. In fact, a lot of Miles Davis' stuff from the 70's is really out there, and you can't go wrong with any of it. This is the album people mostly talk about, though, from his electric era. One of the big influences for Miles was Jimi Hendrix. I've been experienced with psychedelic rock, but this album surprised me a lot.

Haven't heard them yet, but I read that "After Bathing At Baxter's" by Jefferson Airplane and "Anthem of the Sun" by Grateful Dead are very psychedelic and experimental.

"Electric Ladyland" by Hendrix-sure you've got it, though. "Their Satanic Majesties Request"-when The Rolling Stones went really out there, and for the record, it's not a Beatles rip-off at all. 13th Floor Elevators is another band to dig into-check out their song "Slip Inside This House", as an example.

Anything psychedelic-go for it. Those are some of the most potent off the top of my head.

"Meddle" by Pink Floyd is another one-not considered psychedelic and really different from their early stuff, but still amazing and mind-blowing.

I haven't done shrooms, but I've done 4-AcO-DMT a number of times and it's theoretically identical to mushrooms (although debatable).
When I'm out and about enjoying the world with 4-AcO, Forever Changes by Love seems to be one of the greatest albums out there.

I've heard of that album, but have still yet to hear it. I know it's an essential psychedelic classic, though. There's a lot of music I have yet to hear.

Once again, haven't done them, but a suggestion about The Doors-listen to their albums, and not just compilations. Not sure if you're an album person, but there's definitely some really good, underrated album cuts that get stuck in my head.

If you listen to them, look for the original mixes. In 2006/7, the remaining members went all revisionist on the mixes, took some parts out, some back in, lowered the bass, etc. Strange Days, for example, has this cool effect on Jim's vocals while the remix just has echo. The 1999 remasters are the originals AND they're uncensored. And Light My Fire sounds fine at it's old speed.

I would rather throw some tunes in by the Doors but that may be because I listened all their stuff pretty extensively and I rather have a diverse playlist during a trip.

Woah man, on vinyl? That's awesome.

I do know that Jim Morrison himself was on acid when he did the Hollywood Bowl show. Haven't seen the whole thing, but I watched "The End" from that show on YouTube. It's the one where he does that awesome dance.
