I dont think there is anything wrong with making your kids cute and pretty.. People can put an adorable outfit on a newborn I wouldnt have a problem with it.. Just seems there is a whole sexual undertone to these toddlers performances .. they could clean it up a bit ..

PRECISELY! These girls are like 3 to 8 years old and look 40 with their heavy makeup, DYED HAIR, and not cute outfits, but overtly sexual- everything is so sexual about it, it's very bizarre, and pedophilish if you ask me. and the CHILD has no say in it- they are brainwashed by their parents, it's so sad, no opportuniy to just grow into their own. It's no diff than being born into a religous cult or some other type of environment where you're not allowed to develop into your own individuality.

You know what I hate about this society, we push sex on young girls, through media, music, mainstream movies, fashion, BUT WITH NO CONTEXT- and then when these girls get in over their heads and have horrible sexual experiences or get raped - society blames them- its awful.

Its like a doctor giving you a handful of pills and saying "swallow these" so you do, then you OD, and you're told it's your fault but no one told you what the pills were, what they do how and when to take them and what they are for!

I'm so tired of our youth losing their innocence so soon. Let children be children. We spend the rest of our lives in the hellish state of adulthood. I despose ppl who push children into adulthood too soon, whether it be through drugs, sex- information and compassion is absolutley neccessary, but not encouragement. Find middle ground and choose battles. AND MARIJUANA OVER ALCOHOL! AND PUT YOUR CHILD ON BIRTH CONTROL but show them the gritty reality of life through movies, books and your own experiences. HAVE STANDARDS WHILE BEING COMPASSIONTE

 

Hit the nail on the head.. CULT. I pick that up on that. While different groups people with different ideas are often called Cults. This is mainstream society and its growing like a wild fire..

Im old and my eyes are not what they used to be, I really feel creepy when Im a distance from a TV set and see something that looks sexual and I get closer and its children dresses as adults, doing an adult dance act.. Im glad I dont get that channel any longer.

Yes, Toddler's and Tiara's does not only have sexual undertone's, but it also sets a tone for low self esteem in girls. They have fake teeth, fake hair, fake eyelashes, and a TON of make-up on. It begins to teach girl's that they are not good enough just the way they look. That they have to look "perfect" with perfect teeth, perfect, hair etc. Back when I was growing up they had baby contests and no one was wearing any make-up or fake anything. They were all natural. Girl's need to learn and be able to show off their true beauty. Not look like a miniature barbie doll to be considered "beautiful". Also, it puts pressure on them when their parent's push them to continue the contests even when the toddler's clearly aren't showing they are having fun.

Never seen it, as I live under a rock with no cable, however I loved the last pageant scene in Little Miss Sunshine.

Its true, the parents on that show are seriously fucked up. BUT---the one episode of it I got sucked into, they had a little girl who very cutely said "mommy, I have a secret...", the mom leaned down to listen as her child whispered "I dont like you!". Rofl!!!!
