I'm wondering what it is like to be a worker in a communist country. I read that communism is a workers paradise and that workers control the means of production. (I'm not quite sure of what that means). Lets say you run a screw machine in peoples factory #361 that makes fuel injection parts. You'd still have a boss wouldn't you? There would be managers and supervisors, right? You would be held accountable for your work wouldn't you? You'd get yelled at for slacking off, wouldn't you? What do workers do on their days off? Play golf, go fishing, read books or watch TV?
Come and take a look at what's left of the 'worker's paradise' in the part of formerly communist Eastern Europe that I live in. When the communists ran things here, the workers lived in shabby housing, had little to eat, all their food and other goods were rationed. Their bosses were usually communist party members that got special privileges and housing, and exceptions to the rules that everybody else had to live by. If you protested the conditions, you'd be put in jail for being an 'enemy of the state'. Everything that was built during the communist period was of shabby quality and ugly, including homes. People got so used to filth and shabby quality of products and services that most people still can't get used to caring about anything. Don't worry, workers didn't have any control over the means of production, or anything else-including their own lives. The Soviets made sure they had plenty of vodka, though, to insure that the whole situation didn't bother them too much.....
In communist eastern germany people were less degenerated, less fat, less unemployed, less dumbed down and less anti social than in degenerated western capitalist germany. people were overall happier than now in extreme capitalism with so many unemployed and sick people.
I guess that's why they were shooting people that jumped over the Berlin Wall-to keep them from practicing 'capitalism'? What a joke.
people get killed at boarders all over the world. At the boarders of the european community thousands of people get killed by the capitalist system. Most of them Africans that try to get in on boats. http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/9020243-update-nato-murdered-72-african-refugees
The people that tried to get over the Berlin Wall were directly murdered for their 'crime' of wanting to leave the country. What kind of paradise does that? And 'capitalist' Germany has one of the best health care systems and universal medical insurance in the world, open to everyone, rich and poor. The medical systems in the former communist countries of Eastern Europe are in a shambles, and when the communists were running things, they were in even worse condition. Ask people that live in Eastern Europe, and they'll almost universally tell you: that communism destroyed their society, their culture, and their will to work. These people aren't 'greedy capitalists'-just folks that wanted a humane standard of living. If you think communism is so great, why don't you move to North Korea, instead of sitting in some comfy 'capitalist' country?
Capitalist Germany has a 2 class medical system wich isnt good any more. And capitalist Germany is way more effective in profoundly destroying a society that was communist eastern germany. All that violence, unemployment, dumbing down is new to eastern Germans. Then all the exploitation of the third world countries and all the wars to secure our oil and other resources- overall capitalist Germany destroys way more on earth than communist Germany did.
... Ah it's ironic how westerners think they knew what the standard of living the soviet union was and then say stuff like that. Where did you hear that information from? The media is controlled by large companies that make billions because of the capitalist system, of course they're going to spin the story in a way that makes it seem like it's more profitable for us to be a free market. That being said the USSR wasn't a Utopia and there were problems, but standards of living were not significantly lower considering circumstances. You have to realise that there was a revolution for a reason. The russian empire had no industry and was not anywhere near the USA in terms of developement at that time. The communist party manage to cram the industrial revolution that occured in the west over a course of 150 years into 10. Living standards for wokers did improve and were about equal to the conditions of western ones. The middle class of the west on the other hand did live better than that of the soviet union, because the middle class (teachers, academia, etc) were worse of. The trade of however is that in the soviet union the social security was high. You always had a place to live, always had a job, always had healthcare and always had enough for food and the basic living necessities. But not very often did you have more than that. In short Soviet life was less stressful, being fired was extremely hard to do and the state always made sure you were alive. But it was also of a lower standard. How do I know. I'm ukrainian. I don't think that the socialist system within communist countries is the right one. But it is important to note that the capitalist system is just as bad, but not for us. Living in europe and North America we don't see how broken and unjust it is. Read some John Pilger. Capitalism is not fair and it doesn't work, 3/4 live in poverty and you can no longer say that communism is to blame. The poor countries were not poor because they were communist, but rather were communist because they were poor.
Thanks for your insider infos yes, capitalist systems do most damage like wars in other countries where their resources come from
Hey, that's MORAL. Where, the people are taken advantage of for material comforts, the people fight back for all it's worth. In communism people fight when the information suits the event of Productive <capatalist type exploitation>... there was something there in the issue of suddenly... working for no good reason other than the subjective faring of the personal knowledge .
yes there is no more threat from communism, it will be the honor of capitalism to finish human civilisation
