I've seen so many lyric tattoos that are an absolute pile of shit. They look bad, sound ridiculous and can be completely unattracrive. Yet when they're done well, I love them.

So, what writing/lyrics have you got on your body and why? I'm curious about the meaning, the size and type of lettering and where it is on your body. Do you regret having it done? Do you feel it looks a bit messy or do you absolutely love it?

I'm torn between two different lyrics. (One is nine words long, the other just four. I think the latter may be too short so it could be tragic.) Both are from bands I love and are words that have stuck in my head. The lines don't sound silly on their own, it's not like you need to know the whole song to understand it and the line itself sounds beautiful as it is. I'm not sure if I'll have either of them done at all as I have to be completely happy with what I do and I need to make sure I'm getting it in the right place. I'm curious about sizes as I don't want a big tattoo but I also think it has to be big enough that it doesn't look stupid. Sometimes I think little words look awful.

Anyway, if you can tell me about your ink words I'll be very very happy :) Thank you x

Yes, take a pic! I like the meaning. Very intrigued to see it though! I want to see if it's as 'smushed' as you say :)

haha its a little blurry in the middle. i'll put some cream on it so its darker and clearer :D

    EDIT:

    just took some pics...

the top part of it, the writing is thinner and bigger? and when it gets to the middle its thicker and smaller and smushed :p haha...
in real life you can see crooked lines and stuff, not noticeable in the pic.. and to anyone else they might not notice it!! but i do!!

my friends and alot of people think it looks fine, but i'm not reaallyy happy with it :/

I really like it! Pretty micro dermals too. :)

I can see a difference in the top and the middle but I actually like it that way! Perhaps since the Arabic alphabet is so pretty and is fluid, it doesn't matter. Crooked lines aren't visable in your pics. It's a shame you're not happy with it but you're probably over critical, which makes sense since it's your body. Anyway, I think it's lovely!

instead of lyrics i'm going to get a line from the sheet music of a grateful dead song tattooed....i haven't decided which song yet though..

i also want the line "the road goes forever on and on" from the Lord of the Rings tattooed, but the thing is, I want it done in Elvish..Tengwar, to be specific...soooo.....finding someone that can translate that phrase into Tolkien's Elvish and then finding a tattoo artist that has experience with Elvish lettering is proving to be a challenge....

    How's this for a late reply?! :(

I think so. I was hell-bent on just getting one tattoo (lyrics) down the left side of my ribs and I still love the idea of just getting words.

My little sister has a tiny red heart on the underside of her right wrist. I was really against it, thinking it was utterly common and pointless. But I think I'm going to get the same thing done (for her, just so we can be the same :D) but on my left wrist and possibly not on the underside, maybe I'll get it on the side of my wrist.

The sheet music idea is brilliant. So much more meaningful :)

How's your search for an Elvish translator coming along? It'll be cool if you can actually get it!
